Is it possible to use the results from a drop-down box selection in a calculation for another field? I am creating a template in Word. On it I wish to make a selection from two drop-down boxes. Once the second is selected I wish to have posted in a field elsewhere on the template the product of the two selections. Is this possible? I cannot seem to get the field calculation formula to understand that the bookmarked fields (from the drop-down boxes) are usable for calculation.

Office 2007 Normal Templates will not apply

We have users who prefer this method for creating Word Docs:
From an Explorer Window they use the File >> New >> Microsoft Office Word
Document.
This way the new document is in the folders they are viewing at that time.
The problem is we cannot find the template to which this method refers. We
have changed the various Normal.do* files; and they work fine when the user
starts Word, or chooses File>>New from within Word. But they have no affect
on the documents created in the method described above. I've looked in
Programs and Profile sub folders, but cannot find the correct template,
please help. Thank you.

Steve

Thank you for your entry.
Mr. Tyson refers to using:
New->Microsoft Office Word 97-2003 Document

I do not get that option in Explorer, and I do not see anything in options
to turn it on. How do you get in the listing?

I'm not sure. I suspect it has to do with having more than one version of
Office installed.

I don't have it either and I only have Office 2007 installed.

A few years back using word 2003 I was able to download from microsoft wills

2.My modified normal.dotm template is not always applied

I customized the normal.dotm template on Word 2007 to accomodate my favorite
formatting.
When I create a new word document under the usual procedure (opening word
application first), it works just fine. However, I use to create a new word
document by going to the actual folder the word document is going to be,
clicking the mouse's right button, going to the 'New' option then clicking on
'Microsoft Office Word Document', renaming the suggested name for the one I
want and then double clicking on that file. With this procedure, in word
2007, the modified normal.dotm template is not employed but a default one
which seems to be at another file or the software code itself.
Do you know a way to force word 2007 to use my modified normal.dotm for me
to keep using the procedure for creating new docs I am used to?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jofrey

4.Office 2007 Shared templates problems with normal.dot and normalem

My company wanted to use the feature of shared templates to be used
companywide within Word and Excel. I set the path of the Workgroup Templates
to a network share that contained some company standard templates. Now, I
have various users who cannot close Word or Outlook, as they get the message
that the normal.dot or normalemail.dot is being changed and do you want to
save the new version. After some investigation, I noticed that there is a
copy of each normal file in the network share, being used by 2 or 3 people at
a time. My question is, why is Word going to the network share to store and
use the normal.dot file, rather than use the local copy on the workstation? I
did not change the path on the user template option, only the workgroup
template. It is totally arbitrary when Word will use the normal.dot file on
the server or use the local one, and the one that shows it using the copy on
the server, the file path shows the user template pointed to the local
normal.dot file.

5.Full screen 2007 adds to normal template

If you close Excel 2007 with full screen view in place it seems to add this
view to the normal template so next time you open Excel full screen view is
in effect even after re-booting, is this a bug?
