  • 2. E-Mail default
I may be in the wrong place... but no harm asking: When I select a picture and the select "e-mail" this file it goes to a window that asks if I want to reduce its size...fine. But, when it forwards the smaller file to my e-mail, it goes to my Microsoft Outlook, not my Outlook Express (which I prefer). I've selected OE as my default E-mail... but still no luck. I know there must be a simple solution???

Installer asking for SP4 CD

Postby anonymous » Thu, 08 Jan 2004 07:57:25 GMT

Greetings all:

I am in the process of installing FrontPage 2000 on a new
machine that has
Office Professional 2000 installed. Office has been
patched to the current
levels via the web updates.

When installing FrontPage, installer asks that I insert
the SP4 CD. Since
this was not patched from the CD, there is no way this it
will accept any CD
with SP4 on it - including the TechNet CD's.

I know that I have come across this problem before and
that there was a
registry setting that I changed to point to the local
drive or a network
share. Does anyone know what this might be?

TIA

-mike

1.Office Applications Asking for Media (SP4)

Has anyone else been plagued by this misfortune?

Office 2000 Professional running on Windows 2000
Professional Service Pack less than 4. Upon upgrade to
SP4 Office applications will not open and are asking for
the installation media.

If you put the media in it will continue and open. Take
the media out, close the application and open again it
opens fine. Close the application, reboot and it opens
fine again. But as soon as the user of the laptop is out
on the road the chaos starts all over again. Asking for
CD's.

We have about 10 PC's doing the same thing.

Any Ideas???

Thanks,

Chad

2.Update asks to insert Office CD, but user has no CD

The user is trying to update his Office 2000 Professional. The procedure
asks to insert the Office CD, but the user does not have a CD. There is
also a procedure dowloading updates when there is no CD which tells him to
request the "large files". He tried this, but still reaches a point where
that procedure asks for the CD.  I am not sure how he got Office installed;
he believes the computer he purchased came with Office 2000 Professional
already installed. He does not remember receiving a CD with the computer
that he bought; a third party provided his computer and set up all the
software. The user is running WindowsXP. His question is: how can he
update his Office 2000 Professional without a CD?
