Have you turned off "Indexing"? Open "My Computer" r-click on the harddrive Icon, select Properties, and uncheck "Allow Indexing Service.....". I hope the rest of the day goes better. I need help printing labels for a bulk mailing. Using OfficeXP I have opened a blank document in word and opened the mail merge wizard, then clicked labels, and starting document, chose "use an existing list from Access". At this point it tells you to "follow the directions in the dialog boxes that appear...Make sure to sort your list....in ppostal code order for a bulk mailing." But it doesn't tell you how to do that....I can see sorting a-z or z-a but I can't figure out how to sort the list by postal code. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hilda

You cannot "upgrade" to the same version of Office. You would need to purchase the full version or talk to your OEM about perhaps exchanging your SBE edition for a small fee to acquire the Professional version. Most OEMs are happy to do so. -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. installed office 2003, now nothing workds

Postby tbrooks2 » Mon, 10 May 2004 13:27:21 GMT

I installed office 2003 last week. All was fine until I
tried to use my laptop without an internet connection.
Once the system boots (which takes far longer than it used
to), nothing operates. If I try to get an application to
open, it only opens part way and hangs. I cannot open any
files that previously were on my computer. I cannot open
control panel. I have to restart with my cable
connection to get it to work. When I do that, it works
fine.

Did you activate Office?

4.Have Office 2003 installed, update tries to install SP3 for Office XP

This is really annoying... My windows update constantly comes up and tries
to install Service Pack 3 for Office XP. Problem is I have Office 2003
installed on my system and the SP3 install fails obviously due to the
version conflicts. Problem is, with Windows Update set to Automatic, it
constantly tries to install and fails therefore constantly using up my
system resourses.

I'm sure there is a registry entry that can be altered somewhere, does
anyone know how to eliminate this problem?

pls cc: responses to connarchATyahoo.com

TIA

5.Office 2003 Updates WITHOUT re-installing office after an administrative install

Is there anyway to install just the needed updates to an
Office 2003 installation that was done from an
administrative install point WITHOUT updating the point
and re-installing office on the clients?

I just want to create an administrative install point to
do my initial installs. After that, I want to install
just the needed patches and/or Service Packs via somthing
like SUS. I don't want to update the administrative
install point and re-install office everytime. Thanks.
