Can anyone let me know - how do we set the restrictions to prevent any user copying any text from the Word or Excel or Powerpoint or PDF ( generated from Microsoft Office softwares ) files ? As I would not like the content of my documents to be copied and re-used by anyone else. I would only like the users to read the contents and not copy-paste it. Can anyone please help me ?
  • 3. Keeping tab active
One change I don't understand in Office 2007 is how the tab function. If I am working on a document and typing text, then want to insert a line from the Insert tab- shapes, insert the line, type more text, then insert another drawing object, when I begin typing again, I am returned to the Home tab. Then I must repeat all the previous steps of selecting the tab and the options to draw another line. Is there a way to prevent this action and have the program not automatically change tabs until I select it? Thanks.
  • 4. MS Office One Note 2003
I just installed Office One Note 2003 on my computer , but when trying to open the program, I get a Windows installer instead. I have tried the install again, but the same thing happens. I am running 64 bit Windows 7 Professional ad have all of the other MS Office 2003 programs installed and those are working fine. Any ideas?
  • 5. another OGA question
I bought a copy of Office 2007 Pro from an online seller who advertised it as a genuine, new copy. It came in a sealed box with the hologram CDs and installed with no problems using the product key in the box. After downloading updates, I started getting the "not genuine" message after reboots. The seller insists that this is a legitimate licensed product which was purchased from a Circuit City store that was going out of business, and that the messages I'm getting are due to some problem with the installation, not with the authenticity of the software. I can force him to refund my money by having my credit card company or paypal stop the payment, but I've seen some posts in various places describing cases where genuine software got this OGA fake warning. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. How do I determine what the truth is?

Oka

So I've noticed that Microsoft has FINALLY gotten on the ball and allowed you to download certain office applications from their website as trials and then later convert them into full-blown versions

I've always liked this concept, as it seems the way to go for future software delivery options. However, I'm not sure I like the fact that Microsoft is still excpecting a full retail price for this option.

If I am not buying a product that has been wrapped in pretty packaging and burned in some cd-replication warehouse, then why must I shoulder a full retail cost ? Should there not be some sort of monetary incentive to purchase software this way? Symantec allows you to download their software at a discount if you don't purchase it in the store; as does a few other companies. Some of them offering the product at HALF retail for doing this.

Those of us who have paid for high-speed internet connections should see other perks such as this.

Also, why not make ALL products available this way? Including future versions of Windows and the full versions of Office?

While I'd like to go one step further and ask for the ability to download full retail MS products WITHOUT technical support (even futher driving down cost..) I'm sure this is a pipe dream

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this

Thank

Julien

Hi Julien,

As I'm seeing it, Microsoft is making progress in this area, and work is
done to have more programs for Trial version that can then be turned
to Retail upon purchase.

I agree that some price changes should occur for people downloading the
software but that wouldn't be that much of a discount - i can not see MS
dropping the price in half just for the downloaded version...Symantec
products are 50-100$ for home consumers...we haven't reached this yet
with OS products.

Currently MS is only allowing Full MSDN versions for downloading to
whomever has a MSDN account. This version is not a Retail one - you
can not use it to operate your business - rather Test/Private usages.

Being realistic, I don't think MS will provide full retail download option
but rather continue the Trial-convert-Retail method

My 0.5$ thoughts

Take care,

Of course they are concerned and will handle "threats" to their markets.
That's what companies do and there is nothing wrong with that. The
action they take is what they think, based on a *lot* of thinking, will
maximise their profits ... which again, is their purpose and their job.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

When trying to schedule a meeting for anyone in/on my network I can't see
busy/free data because it specifies it cannot be retrieved. It only recently
started this in the last few weeks. How can that be fixed? Also, this past
week I noticed that I can no longer use the Out of Office Assistant. I get a
message stating that 'Your out of office settings cannot be displayed,
because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later.' As far as I
can tell, the server is up and running.

3.Why can't I "Can't create file"?

4.Why can't I turn certain correction options off /Why can't I turn them on?

Hi Dave,

Good point about explaining to a computer. It is easy :-)

If you open a blank document with autocorrect
capitalization turned off and type "jones" it will be
marked as an error. This happens because the arrangement
(size and shape) of jones doesn't fit in the pattern in
Word's main dictionary. Its a square peg among round
holes.

Say your name is Steavens and we will assume that you know
how to spell it. Word marks it as an error because the
folks that make Word think that Stevens is how you should
spell your name and they didn't provide a round hole for
Steavens.

If you click jones or steavens and select add then you
have just made square hole and Word will not tag them as
errors anymore.
