i borrowed my friend's microsoft office professional edition 2003 cd and
everytime i open one of the office programs like word, or powerpoint, a box
shows up and tells me if i want to activate my software through internet or
telephone and i clicked on internet. then it stated to activate but then
another box shows up and says there was a communication error and try again
in a few minutes..what do i do?..

First, return the CD to your friend. By the MS license (EULA), you've
stolen it. Second, go buy yourself your own copy. If you cannot afford
it, check out OpenOffice (openoffice.org). It's free.

Uninstall it and buy your own copy.
Think of the software like a car, you borrow the car but before it will
start you have to register/insure the car - and it can only be registered to
one person.

I t maybe the error setting in VBA is different on each machine. Check the
VBA menu
Tools - Options - General - Break on Error.
To debug the problem put a break point on the worksheet change line in the
VBA code by clicking on the SUB line and pressing F9. Then go back to the
worksheet and see if the you reach the break point. Then Press F5 to
continue or F8 to step through the code.
I suspect it the Break on Error option that is causing the problem.
