Move to Folder button list expansion

Postby Tedgy » Sat, 24 Jun 2006 01:26:31 GMT

I'm a big filer of many various emails. I have about 30 folders where
I keep things archived. I interchangeably use Apple Mail (via IMAP)
and Outlook XP for handling email on a remote exchange server. When I
drag an email to a file on Apple's Mail client, folders spring open on
hovering and spring closed after I've dropped the email where I want to
file it. On Outlook, when I do the same thing, the folders spring up
but remain open after dropping the email. Consequently I'm continually
expanding my file structure and having to manually close things every
few minutes --- very aggravating. So I've begun to use the "Move to
Folder" button. However that list is limited to the last ten or so
drag destinations. Does anyone know how to expand that list to 25-30
entries, and/or freeze the list (so I can set it to just my most common
destinations).

All advice will be gladly welcomed with open arms.

2.Buttons Fail After Moving File to Different Folder

Ie created a custom toolbar with buttons, created and assigned macros to
the buttons. Clicking the buttons runs the macros as expected.

But I have a problem if I save the file (in FOLDER1 for my example), move
the file to another folder (FOLDER2) on the local hard drive using Windows
Explorer, and then open the file located in the new folder (FOLDER2). When I
click the buttons, a dialog box pops up saying that the macro can not be
found, with an error that references the original folder location (FOLDER1)
where the file/toolbar/macro was originally created and saved.

Ie tried the following solutions, all of which have failed:
1. Saving the macros in the Personal Macro Workbook before saving and moving;
2. Attaching the toolbar to the file before saving and moving;
3. Consulted all of the HELP for macros and toolbars, but nothing is
mentioned about the limitations of toolbar macros working when moving a file
to another folder.

If I do a SAVE AS, save the file in different folder (FOLDER3), close Excel
completely, restart Excel, open the new file now located in the new folder
(FOLDER3), clicking the buttons works. But if I then close the new file,
open the original file in the original folder (FOLDER1) and click the
buttons, the error now reads that the macro can not be found and references
FOLDER3.

It seems as if the toolbar button macros will only work when the file is
opened in the folder where it was last saved, not moved to.

I really need to be able to move the file around to different folders using
Windows Explorer, plus email the file to others, and have the buttons work
properly. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

3.import folder of shortcuts (expansions) to autocorrect

I asked this question yesterday and was wondering if the answer could be
simplified and step by step for me. I live, eat and breathe transcription and
not being able to use my expansions is killing me literally.

All I want is to move my expansions folder from my desktop (where I have
them for safe keeping and easy access) to the autocorrect folder in word.

I would really appreciate any help that anyone can give me. Again, step by
step simplified works well for me.

Thanks in advance.

4.Tab button doesn't move the "bullet" in a list

I must have done something bad. :(

I use bulleted lists all the time...and love 'em.

Now, however, when I setup a bulleted list...and I hit the "tab"
button...instead of it automatically increasing the indent of the bullet
(i.e. to second, third, fourth levels) it just indents the text.

In other words, all of the bullets stay on the left margin. I can still move
the bullet by clicking the "increase indent" icon on the format
toolbar....but I really liked having that functionality via the "tab" button
on my keyboard.

Please help me restore this functionality.

I'm also afraid I somehow changed something else....because now when I open
other documents where I have created bulleted lists...or create new
documents...they, too, have lost the ability to move bullets with the "tab"
button.

Did I screw something up on my "normal" template? If so, how do I restore it
without losing my documents?

CHEERS!
