I currently own a copy of office xp standard and have it installed on my pc, however tomorrow I will be picking up my new computer and wanted to get office xp installed on it. Is it possible to do so without buying a new copy. I also would like to keep office on my existing pc.

In help search for EULA, this is the agreement you accepted when the
software was installed/first used.
The general EULA is one PC and one laptop providing both are owned and used
by you; not two PC's.

Hi Brad,

This depends on whether or not Office XP is an OEM version. If it came
preinstalled on your computer then it is licensed to that computer and
it is nontransferable.

The EULA is what you accepted when the software was installed/first used.
It will tell you what you can do with the software, and now many times you
can install it.
The EULA should be your first point of enquiry when it comes to licencing
issues since it is THE agreement you are bound by.

1.New Computer Office 97 on Old computer upgrade to Office XP

I have a beat up old (5 years) laptop with Office 97 on
it.

I've now purchased a new computer.

I want to install Office XP on the new computer but want
to use the upgrade version rather than pay the full
purchase price like I did for the Office 97 residing on
the old laptop.

How do I get the upgrade version to recognize that I do
in fact own the old Office 97 version. It's just on a
different computer that will no longer be used.

2.Will Office 2000 work on new computer with XP operating system

I have an IBM Thinkpad X31 and having freshly installed XP Home I wanted to
install Office 2000 Professional. This has failed with a pop-up asking me to
insert the XP Professional SP2 CD which I don't have. Why would it ask for
this? I have installed this previously on my desktop which has XP
Professional with no problems. What is wrong?

3.Move Outlook .pst files from old XP computer to new Vista computer

Let's start by saying I'm not a techie, and I work out of my home, so please
explain things SIMPLY to me, because I've got no one to ask. I have been
working for two Days to figure out how to move my outlook mail files,
contacts and calendar from my old XP, Office 2003 computer to my new Vista,
Office 2007 computer . The Microsoft help page says to backup your
outlook.pst files to an external device, and then use Explorer to move them
to drive:\Documents and settings\<user>\Local
Settings\application\Microsoft\Outlook folder. However when I used the
backup wizard to put the files on my external hard drive, it would not let me
open the Outlook folder on my XP computer, so I backed up the whole Outlook
folder. But I can't open my backup copy to get just the .pst file to move
it to the Outook folder on my Vista computer. So I figure I need to restore
the old Outlook folder onto my external drive and plug it into my new Visa
computer so I can open the folder on my new computer, and move just the .pst
file to the Outlook folder on the new Vista computer. Is this a good
assumption or is there a better way? Thank you for any help you can give me.

4.Installing Office XP on a new home computer

I just purchased a new computer and would like to install my Office XP (for
students and teachers) from my old computer to my new computer. I know that
there are security issues involved in doing this. I would like to know what
I need to do to make happen without creating any problems. Thanks for any
assistance with this.

5.Using Office XP upgrade CD on new computer?

OK, I am looking at buying a new computer that will probably come loaded with
Works 8.0 and possibly a trial version of Office 2003.

I am currently running Office XP on my old computer, and all I have is an
upgrade CD because I upgraded from a previous version (and also have my
Office 2000 disks, but they were also upgrades). I'm sure I don't have
anything for whatever software I upgraded to 2000 from...

Will there be any way to install Office XP (using upgrade CD) on the new
computer when it already has newer versions installed? I can't afford both a
new computer AND a new version of Office, but I absolutely have to have
Office running if I buy a new machine.

Are there any workarounds? I'm the legitimate owner of the software, and
really want to continue using it.

Thanks for any advice.
