I recently got a new lap top, and Microsoft Office Word 2003 is almost installed. But every time I need a Product Key code. (Why would they put it on here, if i wasn't going to be able to use it?) So maybe some one could give me theirs. Or if you know something else.... Help would be greatly appreciated :-) Brittany
  • 2. Applying Bold, Italics or Underline to One Word
Using Word 2003, bold, underline, nor italics can be applied without first selecting the word. In Word 2000, the cursor could be positioned in the word, pressing Ctrl+B, I or U or using the toolbar buttons would apply these attributes. Is there some setting in Word that needs to be changed? Note: this is not questioning selecting multiple words, this is for just one word. Thank you.

Fonts are missing in all office programs. All the fonts are present in the fonts folder. I am running windows XP Pro and office 2003. They suddenly disappeared. I came in today after the computer rebooted and all the fonts are missing again. Thanks for your help.
  • 5. Word 2003 - Print Layout "loses" Header/Footer Margins
When I open a new Word document, the Header and footer margins do not appear on the guide at the left-hand side of the window and the cursor is positioned right at the very top of the page. If I click on View, Header and Footer and then Close, the margins appear and the cursor is positioned correctly. Any way I can get rid of this irritating little problem? I've updated Office with all the automatic updates available on the Microsoft site but no improvement. Thanks in advance for any help. Tom Walker

"Look In" file list quits responding

Postby amFuaWNlLmJyb3du » Sat, 22 Apr 2006 21:41:02 GMT

Everytime I go to open a file in excel or work through the file>open> and
click on the down arrow for the "look in" list to get my file listing, the
whole program quits responding. Any ideas?

I'm trying to fix the same problem on a Windows XP Pro sp2 machine running
Office XP Pro.

This problem showed up on a user's computer 4 days ago. I got the computer
yesterday and haven't found the fix for the problem yet.

Trying to browse a subfolder from the open dialog box of any Office XP
application will lock up Office. Using the open dialog box of any other
program on the computer works fine.

Does anyone know what dll Office uses for it's open dialog box? I would
like to figure out this problem before it starts showing up all over our
network.

Cary Frisch just posted a possible answer in a different thread.
Here is the link to the Microsoft Security Response Center Blog.
 http://www.**--****.com/

The blog references KB article 918165.
 http://www.**--****.com/

The lowdown is this. A small percentage of users might run into this
problem if they have an older NVIDIA video card driver or Hewlett PackardÔ£Ķs
hare-to-websoftware installed. Updating the video driver fixes the
problem.

I have found infact that this computer has the Share-to-web software
installed. I haven't found how to uninstall it yet, nor does there seem to
be a free update to the newest version which is now called P Image Zone
Version 5

I will probably uninstall all HP software from this computer to see what it
gets uninstalled with. Then I will reinstall software with the custom
option to try and install the software without share-to-web.

Hope this helps.

Read this first and see if it's the cause.
You may experience problems in Windows Explorer or in the Windows shell
after you install security update MS06-015

Janice,

I have the same problem with all the Office 2003 applications. Each time I
click the drop down arrow in the Look in box to open a file, the applications
quit responding. It also happens in Outlook when I try to insert a file
attachment and in Internet Explorer when I try to select a recently visited
we address.

I tried running the repair option with my original Office installations
disks in addition to uninstalling and reinstalling both FrontPage and Word. I
also tried installing the Office Service Pack 2. The problem still persists.
I am considering uninstalling the entire Office 2003 suite and reinstalling
to see if I can correct this problem.

Daniel suggests in his response that it may have something to do with HP
software. I don't have any HP software installed on my PC; it is a Dell.

I would appreciate any suggestions to correct this problem.

Having an HP scanner or printer could also install the Share-to-web
software. If that is not the case, it is also possible your Dell has an
NVIDIA video card that the driver needs to be updated.

I would suggest going to the Windows Update website. Choosing Custom
instead of Express. On the left you will see Select by Type. Hardware,
Optional is one of the choices. If there are any updates there, install
them and see if that corrects the problem.

Hope this helps.

I have been using All Office XP products for quite some time. Last night,

I would double click on the file and nothing would happen. After a while I

Have looked for updates, and have also reinstalled and the problem continues.

4.Short File Name [Please Respond, nobody looked at this before]

I just completed a new XP install on one of my machines

5.Word crashes and computer quits responding

I have Word 2002, and it crashes when I'm typing or editing a document...and
my computer display freezes...along with the computer itself. I've tried
various remedies to fix the problem, such as re-naming the normal.dot file,
detect and repair, safe mode (for word) and uninstall-reinstall. Word crashes
at various times as I use it...sometimes a few minutes after I start it up,
or maybe an hour later. It's hard to predict when it will happen. But, I have
noticed that it doesn't freeze when I'm cutting and pasting images onto a
document. It doesn't matter if I have internet connection or not, it still
freezes. If anyone has any ideas, please drop me a line. Next, I'm going to
turn off my computer services one-by-one, and see if I can diagnose the
problem that way. Would macros have anything to do with it?
