Hi, I'm an MSDN Subscriber, and as such I would expect my question to be answered as promised. It's been two days and I still have no answer. So I'll copy it again, hope someone minds answering... --- Hi, I've installed successfully Office 2007 on several computers before, but this one is giving me a headache. It's an Assus eee PC with 512 MB RAM, a 4 GB HDD and an 8 GB extension memory card. I install Windows XP Pro SP2, and when installing Office 2007 Ultimate I get the following message: "The windows installer service cannot update one or more protected windows files" I install Windows XP and Office 2007 using MSDN DVDs. I tried the following but none will solve the problem: -install just Word -install Office 2007 right after I installed Windows XP, without installing any driver -run Windows Update, install drivers, and then install Office -install the English version of Office on an English Windows -install the French version of Office on an French Windows -install the French version of Office on an English Windows -activate Windows XP before installing Office -do not activate Windows XP before installing Office As you can see, I already lost a lot of time... :-/ Any help would be much appreciated!
  • 2. Office XP Professional Upgrade
I bought a new laptop and am trying to load my office software. The Office Small Business loaded with no problem, but the upgrade won't install. I get the message about no qualifying software found, but when I follwo the MS instructions about using the CD, it still doesn't work. Any ideas?
  • 3. How can I tell if my Office 2007 can be unlocked with an OEM key?
Hi all, I hope this is the right place to ask this: I've just received a new laptop with Office 2007 pre-installed. My first assumption was that this was the full version, but it turns out to be a trial version. The supplier of the laptop does not answer any questions concerning this (not my supplier anymore as you might understand), and my trial is running out, so I need to get the full version of Office 2007. I now have two options: buy the OEM version or the retail version. I've read that the OEM version will only work with pre-installed Office 2007 (Office Ready it's called?). Now my question is, how can I figure out if I have a trial version pre-installed or if I have an Office Ready Office 2007 waiting for an OEM-key? And no, asking my supplier is useless. Does anyone have an idea? I've read somewhere that it should show up in your "system" tab, where it should say Office Ready underneath the OS specification. Can someone confirm this? Any help greatly appreciated!
  • 4. Changing users / registrations
There are several versions of Office 2007 in the office at the moment, Professional and Small Business Edition. I have one user with Small Business Edition who needs to use Access, and a user with Professional who doesn't need Access. I want to swap their Office 2007 versions so that they have appropriate programs available to them. I have installed Pro on the users machine who needs Access, but unsurprisingly i cant register it as it is still activated on the other users machine. What must i do to enable this simple swap to occur? Can i simply un-install Office on both machines, swap, then re-install? Ollie

The obvious question is "why"? May I suggest you convert it to PDF instead
(www.primopdf.com).

Yes, it's possible. Just print the screen (with the Print Screen key) of each
page and paste it to Windows Paint. Cut the exact page of the Word screen
pasted and copy it. Paste it on a new image (File menu, New) and save it to a
JPEG file. Name it as Doc1page1.jpg, Doc1page2.jpg.

But please tell us why you want to convert a Doc file to JPG? ;^)

I'm not going to worry about asking why. But you might try a product called
SnagIt from www.TechSmith.com

An excellent screen capturing program that can do scrolling captures to .jpg.
