  • 1. Deleted newsgroup icon
I just upgraded to Office Professional 2003 and applied the updates on the MS website. I wanted to start the news reader within Office, and in an attempt to move the news icon into the GO menu I somehow deleted it. Now I cannot find News anywhere. How can I recover this so I can start the news reader? I tried re-installing office, it did not correct the problem. I tried help-Delete and repair, it did not work. I do not want to uninstall and reinstall because I don't want to lose my contacts, email, setup, etc. Thanks, Gus
  • 2. Setting Default Save Path etc for ALL USERS
Hi, I'm working on an unattended Office 2000 install to over 3000 machines. I have created the MST and an OFT to install with our company standard templates location, default save location, and startup location. This works fine if a user is logged in at the time of the install. However, it only applies the settings to current user... I would like to set these default settings on a machine level so that all users who log in pull the new settings! How is this possible? We have Windows 2000 desktops and are installing using Unicenter Software Delivery. Perhaps there are registry keys in HKU which could be set? Or HKLM? Any help on this issue would be much appreciated as I have been working on this install for a few weeks now trying to solve this problem! Many Thanks, Danny Russell National IT Co-Ordinator, Baker Tilly

I need to know how to install applications in Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro for all users, instead of having to reinstall and or reconfigure it for each user. Can anyone tell me how to do it? Thanks, Bill

Is it possible to use the Office XP Media CD with Office 2003? If so, how? -- Donald L McDaniel Post all replies to the Newsgroup, so that all may be informed. Remove the obvious to reply by email. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  • 5. Office 4.3 - Missing diskette #1
I have disk #2 through #20 which I purchased a long time ago but I cannot find my initial setup disk #1. Is there a way to order just this disk??? Since then I have purchased Office 97 upgrade and it will only install if I have disk #1 from my Office 4.3. This is probably how I misplaced disk #1 in the first place. Any help is appreciated!!!

trying to install Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition, 2003
put in product key and get the message "Microsoft Office cannot continue
setup because the installation source has been corrupted." Is this a problem
with my computer, or a problem with the disc that I've purchased?

I purchased the disc at Circuit City. Found a phone number online for
Microsoft Office-student and teacher edition. They were very helpful, and I
did get the program installed. Thanks for the reply.

2.Corrupt installation source - Office 2003 Pro

I had problems with my Office 2003, I was in Word and when I closed it an
installation started (of what I don't know) it had stopped because it
couldn't find sku11.cab. I couldn't find it anywhere on my hard drive or the
CD. I did notice that in the document I was looking at there was in imbedded
or copied MS Project in it, not sure if that has anything to do with it. I
couldn't open any Office program; I could only open existing documents or
spreadsheets.
I uninstalled Office and then tried to reinstall it, but I got an error
stating that the installation could finish because the installation source is
corrupted. I've searched the Knowledge Base, but can't find a solution. Does
anyone have any idea what has happened?

I purchased a new laptop, and also purchased microsoft office professional
edition 2003 software. I am not computer literate and bought the upgrade
version of office prof edit 2003. The laptop did not have any office
software preinstalled on it. When I try to install the software the box for
the product key comes up, once I enter the key #'s a box pops up that has
"Microsoft Office setup cannot continue because the installation source has
been corrupted". I was told I needed a office software installed on the
computer so that the prof edition could connect to it. I purchased microsoft

provided. I am thinking that the cd may be bad, am I right?
