  • 2. Outlook 2003 and Office 2007
Everytime my Office 2007 does an auto-update from the WEB I can no longer open an Office file simply by double-clicking the file from Windows Explorer. Files will also not open directly from within Outlook. Instead I get a "Windows Installer" message from Office 2003. The fix that I have been using for this issue is to repair Office 2007 each and every time it happens which is quite annoying. Is there any other work around to this issue? I about ready to swich out my Outlook 2003 to Thunderbird. Rick
  • 3. Office 2003 Updated - now can't move/renam/delete files
I just updated Office, incl SP3. Now it is acting like XP did when I installed SP3 for the OS... I can't delete/move/rename files after I have opened them to read! After a few minutes or a reboot I can, but this is absurd. Does anyone have a fix for this or do I have to completely uninstall Office to get rid of the updates which are not able to be uninstalled separately? This is so frustrating!!!!! So much time wasted tracking down and fixing problems created by upgrades and updates.
  • 4. Office SP3 causing a problem within Word 2003
Ever since installing Office Service Pack 3 on all of my companies pc's many of the users are encountering an error in Word. They get an error that states: "you are working without a Word work file and memory is nearly full. Save your work." At this point Word does not let you save any work and all work that was previously done is gone. This issue seems to be random. I found that the problem does not happen if any of the users are granted local admin rights but this is not an option due to the security risk. How can I resolve this issue without reinstalling Office? This is a huge problem, any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Operating System - XP Pro Office - 2003 Pro Office is installed to the default location with no modifications to the program.

Could it be that you have a Trial version? Do you have PROTRI.MSI on your
computer or install media?

This file belongs to an Office XP Professional installation, if you don't
have Office Pro installed than you may have a corrupted installation. First
try running a repair on your installation (Help menu -> Detect and Repair).
If that doesn't work then try uninstalling and reinstalling Office if you
have your CD handy.
