  • 1. Office XP service pack 1 hosed installation
Any ideas to fix this problem are GREATLY appreciated! I installed Office XP standard and activated it. The first thing I did after checking that a blank Excel and Word document loaded up properly was to check for updates. The automatic scan suggested Office XP Service Pack 1, which sounded perfectly reasonable. It proceded to download and begin installlation. 3/4 of the way through, it locked the computer so badly that I had to hold the power button for 4 seconds to trip the ATX power circuit. After powering back up all the Office apps complained "operating system is not configured for this application". I tried again twice and it crashed at the same place both times. I then tried the update again from Safe Mode with Networking. It proceded through the install without crashing but said the update failed. Now all the Office apps refuse to run completely! They dump with an "unexpected problem" and Windows wants to know if it can report the problem to Microsoft. Any suggestions to repair this installation??? What went wrong? This computer has NEVER been anything less than very stable and this lockup problem was very strange!

But I have to pay to submit anything to product support.
I'm on a volume license. I need this hotfix to get a
application to install. Anyone run into the same issue?

I am getting an error with Outlook - "Some items could
not be deleted. They were either moved or already
deleted, or access was denied."

I found the error in the MS Knowledge base with one
difference. The article refers to the error occuring
after deleted 5000+ items, however this error is
happening when the user tries to delete 10 or so e-mails.

He does not get the error everytime he deletes items.

Any ideas anyone?
