  • 1. Unable to use office 97 after windows update installed
I recently installed a recommended UPDATE. Now, none of my office-97 programs work. I am getting a message that implies that I can no longer use office-97 and have to "buy" a new version. I object, STRONGLY! If I want new features available in newer versions of OFFICE, I will buy a version that supports the features I want to buy. If I am satisfied with using the features in my currently installed office-97, I should not be forced to buy a newer version that contains features I do not NEED. Please advise how to un-do this disabling of my office-97 product so I may get on with my life. any reply: XXXX@XXXXX.COM

New office install again junk email filter won't install again

New Office install(under microsoft supervision) AGAIN. Junk email filter on
latest update fails repeatedly Again. Does microsoft know how to make
compatable updates for their own product??? This is a Sony Vaio laptop, XP
PRO, Office PRO, all MS only on computer 94GIG free space. Junk email
continually tries to load, continually fails, Then we have to dump the
computer and reload it. Its getting quite old but I'm getting good at it
because of all the practice. Last MS tech referance #SRZ060415001956. I've
been useing these numbers for the lottery also, they haven't come in there
either. Bigwoody

Groucho, see my previous post. If you'll follow the instructions in
that link, you'll find that it works and is much simpler and easier
than what MS is telling you.................

2.Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB932330) won't install

3.Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB911961) Won't Install

Updates were unable to be successfully installed.

This is the only message I get. It keeps trying to install it over and over
again and each time it fails.

I have downloaded the file from the KB911961 page and tried to install it
without using Automatic Update and it fails too with this error message;

Error 25090. Office Setup encountered a problem with the Office Source
Engine, system error: -2147023838. Please open C;\program files\microsoft
office\office11\1033\setup.chm and look for "Office Source Engine" for
information on how to resolve this problem.

When you do this, it tells you to restart the Office Source Engine service.
After I restarted this service, the update applied without any problem.

I have no idea how this service could have come to be disabled in the first
place. But for anyone else having this condition with the latest Automatic
Update, this is how I solved it.

4.Update for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB925254) Won't Install

Folks,

I am running XP SP2 with all updates and MSOffice 2003 with all updates but
one,

Update for Outlook Junk email Filter (KB925254) will not install. Every
time I boot, the computer spends several minutes trying to install this
which hangs the CPU at 100% usage. I finally get an error message indicating
that this update can not be installed with no clue as to what the problem
is?

I have checked into the two most obvious Outlook update problems:

1. All McAfee email protection has been turned off, and;
2. Office Source Engine Services are started.

The machine is clean, with 10 gigs of space (50%) free space on the primary
hard drive. All required maintenance processes are up to date:

1. Defrag
2. Clean Registry
3. Files cleanup
4. Scan for spy ware

I am getting frustrated, the next step is probably an uninstall of McAfee,
"repair" XP, update, "repair" MSOffice", update - Probably several hours
work. To avoid the 10 minute boot hang-up, I just don't turn the machine
off. But, to keep thing running you have to reboot every few days. This is
a real nuisance.

Is there a way just to get rid of the update?

Any help will really be appreciated and same me that dreaded $90.00 phone
call to Microsoft.

5.Unable to install Office 2003 junk email filter for Office upd

Dave, Try running the repair option from the Office 2003 CD, if you have one.
Insert the CD and dbl click Setup.exe. It worked for me, thanks to a
gentleman by the name of Christian.
