  • 1. Error 1321 when attempting to install SP3
I am attempting to install Office 2000 SP3 on a WIN2K system (named PC4). I recieve the error message "Error 1321: The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify file:..." I am logged on as an administrator. I had successfully installed SP3 on another WIN2K system (named SV0). One possibly significant difference between the two systems is that PC4 has the .NET 1.1 framework installed on it, while SV0 does not. When I first encountered the error, I checked my logon attributes and found that my standard PC4 logon user had somehow changed groups from "Administrator" to "Debugger Users." -- Changing my PC4 logon user back to the Administrator group did not relieve the error; -- Logging onto PC4 as "Administrator" did not relieve the error; -- Adding all groups to my standard PC4 user did not relieve the error. Any and all help is appreciated - Vern....
  • 2. Updating Office XP Pro w/ Frontpage to SP1
When I try to update my Office XP Pro to SP1. I get this error message: Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\PT2C4.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor. Sometimes the "PT2C4.tmp" would be something different, like "PT[#]C4.tmp". My operating system is Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
  • 3. Applying updates to Office XP
I'm trying to apply updates for Office XP which I have downloaded from the Microsoft website. Installation is failing with a message 'the expected version of the product was not found on your system'. Of course, a legal and licensed copy of Office XP is resident on my system. Does anyone know how to overcome this?
  • 4. Technical Refresh for Office 2003 Beta 2
I have attempted unsuccessfully 4 times to download the Technical Refresh to MS Office 2003 Beta, with only about 20Megs left to download I get an error that the Server has timed out. I have tried downloading the updates for Info and One Note successfully, but the Technical Refresh for MS Office 2003 Beta will not download successfully, probably due to its size... All three combined were 1.6 Gig's. Does MS Office the Technical Refresh on CD ROM? I've sent two requests to MS via email with no response. Has anyone else experienced the same problem. I have downloaded files of this size before successfully with no problem from other sites... Regards... Jay

Office 2003 SBE, how can I stop downloads from MS for Access?

Postby TWFyayBS » Thu, 06 Oct 2005 10:59:33 GMT

I have Office 2003 Small Business Edition -- no MS Access. However, when
checking for updates MS always lists critical updates for Access. If I fail
to un-check these updates, download time is used and obviously the
installation fails. This is a minor inconvenience but I would like the MS
update checker to stop falsely listing updates for Access.

If you use Microsoft Update rather than the Windows or Office Update site,
you can hide components you do not desire.

Note: This usually happens when an OEM cuts corners, uses a Pro CD and only
installs programs for the SBE version. Update expects the full version, not
the crippled one.
