Cannot install Office 2003 SP1 and connot repair existing Office 2

Postby cnVnZ2VyaWo » Wed, 22 Sep 2004 18:59:03 GMT

I cannot apply any patch to Microsoft Office 2003 and I cannot even run a
repair off the original upgrade CD. This is frustrating, in that I cannot
apply any security patches.

I need some assistance for this issue.

Hi, ruggerij,

You'll want to post back with what exactly the symptoms are. Are you
getting an error message? What is is doing that lets you know it isn't
working?

Susan, I just attempted to apply the patch for the JPEG issue. When the patch
is running, it stops, simply saying that the installation ended prematurely
due to an error.

The sad part is I cannot install anything for Office 2003, not even
additional features off of the original upgrade CD's. The error I am getting
is similar.

2.cannot install office 2003 SP2, cannot uninstall office 2003

My installation of Office 2003 SP2 via Microsoft Update froze. Two hours
later I hit the cancel button, and it acknowledged that, but the cancellation
didn't seem to go anywhere. I was unable to "end task" but I could log off.
Same result with attempting to update the product from Word. I tried to
repair or uninstall via Add-or-Remove-Programs but the error message said
that another install was in progress.

Another detail: the notebook came with the office 2003 trial, but I bought
the professional upgrade. The add-or-remove-programs listing shows both a
copy of standard and the professional. I cannot remove either.

Any advice appreciated.

3.office 2003, sp1 failure, cannot install or uninstall

Help Please, I have installed the 60 day demo of Office 2003, all was fine
untill i tried to update to SP1, the download failed half way through, I can
not open any programmes in Office nor can i delete, as the warning says only
part of the SP has been downloaded. I have tried downloading the update again
but i'm told its already downloaded. Also I constantly receive a warning that
the MSI must be launched from install !!
Thanks in advance.

4.Can't install Office 2003 SP1 or uninstall Office 2003 at all

Hi.
I downloaded the Service Pack 1 client install and ran it on my machine.
It seemed to be taking ages to install and the progress box wasn't moving
from 0% so I just shut-down the machine. Upon restarting the machine, each
component of Office said SP1 next to it's version number on Add/Remove
Programs, however, upon trying to add a component by clicking on the Change
button in Add/Remove Programs or repair using the Detect and Repair on the
Help menu in each of the programs causes this error to appear everytime:

"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."

Also tried running SETUP.EXE from the original CDs and same thing comes up.

I did have an additional problem: when trying to update my Logitech Webcam,
the Windows Installer setup said that an Office 2003 update was suspended
and it had to roll-back the changes. So I had to click on YES to continue
the install and all the version numbers for all the Office components are
back to pre-SP1. However, I can't remove Office 2003, as above, to
reinstall it and the Service Pack.

Any ideas?

Machine is Dell P4 3.06GHz, 512MB RAM, Windows XP Professional, 120GB Hard
Drive.

5.Missing Cabs when Installing full file version of OneNote SP1 (and Office 2003 SP1)

Whenever I try to install OneNote 2003 SP1 or Office 2003 SP1 full-file
service packs, I get "missing CAB file" errors.

Does anyone know why this is happening? I have a Toshiba M205 PC, and as
such don't have access to the CABs for OneNote, so I can't install the
missing files from the install media as I don't have any. Needless to say,
I really need the full file version to work.

I get similar errors on the Office 2003 SP1 with missing CABs from
FrontPage 2003.

Thanks,
Simon
