I downloaded the current update to Office 2000 Professional but discovered I have misplaced my SR-1 CD. I had to terminate the update installation. Now, when Excel starts, it tries to begin intalling the downloaded update. Until I can get a replacement CD, how do I prevent the installation process from starting every time I open Excel?

Hi, I've done all the necessary 'Windows Updates' (inc SP4) & 'Office Updates' (inc SP3) as a separate update is there any need for me to do the above update as well? I'm running office 2000 with SP3 installed. Many thanks in advance Matt U.K. p.s. I don't do any development SDK etc ...

I have almost 75 Windows XP professional deployed with Office XP. These Office XPs were all installed individually using individual Officc CDs with corresponding CD Keys. When I tried to update the Office XP with the latest security updates from the Web, it comes and asks me for Office XP CD. I do have all the CDs, but they are locked up in a different location. My question here is how do I update the office XP as and when patches are available on client machines if each installation is going to ask for the corresponding CD. Is there any other way, I could do an install which does not require the CD to be inserted. Thanks

Hi. I installed office 2003 and it really messed things up. It interferes
with our chat program. I did a system restore and now am having problems
with my office 2000. I cannot open word any longer and every time I check my
email it comes up with an install notice. I cannot use mail merge at either.
I need to get this fixed. I tried to reinstall office 2000 and it says
verify source or something like that when it goes to install. Does anyone
have any ideas on how I can fix this and just get my office 2000 working
properly again.

It appears to me that the Windows Installer may have been messed up when you did
a system restore. Suggest you downloaded the Windows Installer clean up utility
and then reinstall Office.
See for details on how to do this -
You receive the "This patch package could not be opened" error message in an
Office program

You'll need to have your Office 2000 CD and Product key etc.

Hi thanks for your response. Unfortunately, I tried that and am getting the
same result. Any other ideas.

Not at this stage, perhaps maybe someone else might have a suggestion.

3.I need Microsoft Map - need downgrade path to Excel 2000

I need the features from Microsoft Map, because it is tightly integrated with
Excel, and it allows me to add my own maps in MapInfo format.

I have not seen other products that allow me to use my own maps and have
same features.

I work with UN consultant, we create our own mapsas we work in areas of the

4.Pivot tables downgrade 2007->2003

Welcome.

I've created a few pivot tables in my report in Ex2007.
The problem is that there is a group of ppl who have Ex2003 and these pivot
tables looses their functionality (expanding) when opened in this version of
Excel. Of course files are saved as *.xls format but it doesn't change
anything.

The one way to solve this problem is to create once again these pvt tables
in Ex2003 using source table,
but i think its just time wasting process. Besides there are pvt tables
without source, so i would have to generate them again.

I'll appreciate any hint helping me to get round this problem.

5.Downgrading to Office for Mac 2004

I am a recent convert from Windows to Mac (Just purchased a Macbook Pro) and
I just purchased Office 08 for Mac. It sucks, specificially Excel. Is Excel
2004 a better program? Should I uninstall 08 and purchase Office 04? Can
you only have Excel 2004 running when the rest of office is 2008?

Also, in excel for windows, I would just hit F2 to edit a cell that had text
in it already. How do I do that in Excel 08 for Mac?
