Hello, I want to upgrade 20 XP PC's from Office 2000 Pro to Office 2003 Pro. Unfortunately, i can not but Office 2003 licenses anymore. Can i buy upgrade licenses 2007 Pro instead and then install Office 2003 on these PC's? Thanks. Greetings, -- Peter Vreeswijk, SFW, Holland

  • 5. Network problems after Office 2003 SP3??
I was setting up a new laptop (WinXP w/all updates) and found that I had lost all ability to connect to network resources. I could PING everything (IP & DNS). IPCONFIG /ALL showed the correct parameters. However I was unable to connect to network drives or any UNC resource. Wired & wireless had the same problem. I re-imaged the machine and re-configured it. Now it works fine. Only difference is that I installed SP2 for Office 2003 vs. SP3. I did s search, but couldn't find this. I can't shake the notion that this is a known problem with SP3. Note that I applied it from the downloaded file, not WSUS2 or WSUS 3... Does anyone know of any similar problems caused by SP3? -- Regards, Hank Arnold Microsoft MVP Windows Server - Directory Services

Why can't Office Update scan my o/s for XP updates?

My o/s is XP Pro w SP2 (installed last week), and now Office Update for some
reason can't scan for Office XP updates. If the Windows installer was
changed during the update from the XP home edition, why is it showing up a
week later? Is there some way I can fix the installer?

Windows Installer changed from version 2.x to 3.0 with Windows XP SP2, but
this is not expected behavior. What error message are you seeing?
For starters you could try the steps in this article:

If the files are missing you will not be able to apply Office updates. You may also be unable to

2.Why is office xp sp3 a required update when I don't have office xp

On windows XP Home Edition v. (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service
Pack 2)
I have Office 2000 SR-1 Small Business v. 9.00.9327 and 12 updates (too many
update id's to list here) that cannot be removed (fully updated according to
automated office update site). I just installed Microsoft Works Suite 2006
v. 08.05.0818 which contains the Works Suite add-in for Word v. --
 Now I have Word 2002 v.10.0.2627.01 and 1 update {update id
#7B802DE5-84E5-4503-965B-2ABFFC78506A} -- Now I'm going back to the automated
office update site and it comes out saying I require Office XP SP3 & about 6
more Office XP related updates {KB873379;  KB873352;  KB905754;  KB833858;
KB837253; KB913471} -- What are these going to do to my pc? Are they
popping up because of the Word 2002 only? If I am asked to put cd's in, can
I still just keep putting in my 2 Office 2000 small business cd's or is this
going to require Office XP cd's? Any advice respectfully?

4.Office XP Update - Can't find PRORET.MSI on Office XP CD

I am running the Office XP updater and it keeps asking
for the Office XP CD (I am using the volume license CDs
that I have under a select agreement) and the installer
keeps giving me an error message that says:

"The path 'Microsoft Office XP Professional' cannot be
found. Verify that you have access to this location and
try again. or try to find the installation
package 'PRORET.MSI' in a folder from which you can
install the product Microsoft XP Professional.

I can't find this file on the CD or the Hard Drive, and
can't continue the install without it. How do I proceed?
