I got a Office 2000 disc at work, and I've tried to load it. Everything was fine until I loaded the Service Release 1a. Now the page tells me I need the "administrative version". In reading the web site, what I'm seeing is all about loading from a server, I don't have a server!!!! Any ideas?
  • 3. Office XP Update - Can't find PRORET.MSI on Office XP CD
I am running the Office XP updater and it keeps asking for the Office XP CD (I am using the volume license CDs that I have under a select agreement) and the installer keeps giving me an error message that says: "The path 'Microsoft Office XP Professional' cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again. or try to find the installation package 'PRORET.MSI' in a folder from which you can install the product Microsoft XP Professional. I can't find this file on the CD or the Hard Drive, and can't continue the install without it. How do I proceed?

In order to help you I need more information about your problem. What
version of Office do you have installed? Do you remember what updates you
were trying to install? What error message did you see?
Whenever a user has problems with Office the first thing I recommend is to
repair the installation, please go to the Help menu and select Detect and
Repair, this will ensure your Office apps are not damaged.

1.Update - asks for Office 2000 SR-1 CD version I am using Office

Seems that I am not the only one having this insert CD message...I upgraded
to Office 2003 some time ago, but whenever I try to install updates, it is
aking me for my old CD - which I no longer have....

Has anyone found a solution as of yet? I am trying to do this update so I
can use Powerpoint 2003 which apparenetly needs an "update" in order to open
my colleagues file sucessfully (* unless I use a previous version)

2.Office 2003 Trial CD bogusly asks for newer version of windows

When I try a normal install, setup.exe says "The specified program requires
a newer version of windows," even though I have Windows 2000 SP4, which is
OK according to the spec. I got around it for the initial install by
locating and invoking PRO11N.MSI, but now, every time I want to add or
change a component, I hit this message. It seems to stumble through, but I'd
like to know why my Windows 2000 installation is fooling the installer. I
tried it on my MCSE "training" partition, with Windows 2000 SP4 evaluation
installed and it ran fine. What's different? Any ideas?

3.I am about to Delete last version of Microsoft Office - Need help

I want to install my new Microsoft Office 2007 in my PC that carries Windows
XP. But first I want to uninstall the last version.

Question: In looking at the list on Remove/Add, I have Microsoft Office
Small Business edition 2003. Before deleting it, I want to make sure I have
the original installation disc should I run into any problem. I do have the
Microsoft Office XP standard for students and teachers version 2002. Is that
the business edition?
I just can't locate my Business edition 2003 copy.

5.Adding Studen version of Microsoft Office to my new computer

I purchased my student version online and have a new computer I'd like to
install it on. I do not have the original key to copy in, so how do I go
about getting it? I am in desperate need of this ASAP, and when I attempted
to go to the Microsoft support page, they wanted to charge me $50 for

I believe there is a link someplace where I can request my key and they will
send it to my email I registered with. I have only uploaded the program once
to my old crappy (Dell) laptop, so there should be no issues.

Thanks to anybody who can offer me support! I am in class online and cannot
work on assignments without my applications.

Take care all and have a great day.
