  • 1. I've downloaded the office xp updates but now none of my document.
Last night I downloaded the recommended updates to Office XP. However, now I can't open any of my saved documents in Word or Excel. Even if I save a new test document and immediately try to open it, I get a "document not available" error message. I've tried saving to my c drive, the desktop, and a removable disk but I still get the same error message. What's going on?

  • 4. I should be able to uninstall office updates
On several occasions I have installed updates for MS Windows and Office and later found that they hindered more than helped my system. I just installed an Office update for Outlook 2003 which has somehow prevented me from sending and receiving mail. The problem is I can't just uninstall Office updates like I do the Windows updates. You need to make this possible.
  • 5. Microsoft Office update thinks my PC is a Mac
    1. When I go to the Office updates page, I get the message, "Warning: You are viewing this page with an unsupported Web browser. This Web site works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later or Netscape Navigator 6.0 or later. Click here for more information on supported browsers." I'm using the most recent version of IE 6.0. The page does not look like a typical Microsoft page; the font is even different from other MS pages. 2. When I select Office Updates on the same page, again I get the message above as well as, " Sorry, the Office Update site does not support Office for Mac." I have a PC. Can anyone offer help?

I can't update my office

Postby JB » Thu, 29 Jul 2004 05:09:42 GMT

I get the following error when I try to run the "product
update" on the Office Update website. I am running a
Windows 2000 Advance Server in Application Terminal
Service mode.

The Office Update site is unable to check for updates on
this computer. This may be happening because of one of the
following reasons:

You do not have administrative privileges for this
computer.

There is a network problem and the detection catalog used
by the Office Update site failed to download. Go back to
the Downloads home page and try running detection again.

Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously
applied Office updates are missing from the
\Windows\Installer hidden directory on your computer. MSP
files are stored on your computer after update
installation completes because they need to be referenced
for future update operations. If the files are missing you
will not be able to apply Office updates. You may also be
unable to uninstall Office products as a result of the
same problem. Please contact Microsoft Product Support
Services for assistance.

You installed Office updates in the past and then upgraded
from Windows Installer version 1.0 to Windows Installer
version 1.1. For more information see the KB article
Windows Installer May Prompt for Install Source if
Unavailable.

2.Can't Update my Office XP

I have the entire Office Suite for Office XP. I also have
Front Page, and I CANNOT get my updates. I have not been
able to for several months now. Everytime I try, I get an
error message, which states that my MSP files may be
missing, and that I should contact Microsoft Support. The
files are missing, and I have done this. These problems
started AFTER the last time that I updated, which was
months ago. I had thought about uninstalling the program,
and re-installing it, but it also tells me that I will be
unable to uninstall my Office Products.

I am frustrated. I paid good money for this program, and
I should be able to get the necessary security updates.
If Microsoft's site tells me to contact the support
center, you would think that they would send me an e-mail
or something letting me know how to fix this problem, but
nothing yet.

Does anyone know how to fix this? If so, please HELP!!!!!!

Is there some residual software which remains when Office is removed? If
so, how do I get rid of it?

time to send or reply to an email.
