Dear All I remember this subject from 3 months ago and I used the steps that were defined in it and it worked perfectly. What I want is a URL from MS or anywhere else for reseting the admin account for Project 2003. Thank you
  • 2. 3 Project Levels Master Master - Master - Projects
I am using Project Server 2003 with a total of 335 projects statusing projects by using %complete. What I need to do is have 3 levels, A Program level Master Master One Project, Master Portfolio Level with 8 Projects and a Project Level with the 335 projects. Could someone tell me the best way to have the 335 rollup to their respected portfolio group then combine the 8 Portfolio projects into a Program project? My vision is to have the 335 projects drive the whole program and then the Portfolio Managers can just look at their plans and the Program Managers can just look at the one project. Can this show in PWA in a logical form? Do I need to have some specific settings set? I appreciate it. Thank you John
  • 3. Rename MS Project 2002 server
Hello MS project 2002 and SQL 2000 are installed in one server and my company decided to move SQL DB to new server with same old name and IP while we decided to keep MS project 2002 in the same server but we will change the server name. So, the question is what changes should I do to make MS project connect with DB
  • 4. Authenticating
I have this annoying item: When I highlight a project on Project Server and click "open...", the system makes me enter my password again before it will open the project in Project. It is the same password that I entered when I logged onto the Project Server. User Authentication is set to "Project Server authentication only". I would really like to get rid of this annoyance. Anyone know how? Ed
  • 5. OLAP Differences
I built a timesheet view in Analyzer and am comparing the results from this to a time card view I created under PWA's Resources/View Resource Assignments function. For a resource I have 9 hours on a project for a specific day but in the Analyzer timecard view I created it shows 13 hours for the resource on that same day. I verified that the total time for the resource on the project was 9 hours. I checked the project plan and found the entry to be 9 hours as well. I republished the task and then manually kickoff a build of the OLAP table. Still there is a difference. Does anyone know why there would be a difference for it seems to me they should be exact? And how do I correct the OLAP table to reflect what the Project Plan and Resource timecard PWA view shows? Thanks -- John

Can't Renumber WBS for "Selected Tasks"

Postby J Baird » Sat, 06 Mar 2004 04:22:47 GMT

I have a schedule, where I've renumbered the WBS numbers for selected tasks,
on a regular basis. ([Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks])

All of a sudden, in the [WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks]
option is greyed out (the [Entire Project] option is still selectable).
Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. Has anyone seen
this behavior before, and if so, do you know what caused it?

Hello J.

If you select only one row, the [WBS Renumber] dialog box presents only the
[Entire Project] option.
Have you tried to select several rows ?

Of course...As I said, I've renumbered selected tasks on a regular basis.
Now, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out. I know that I'm not the
only person that this has happened to.

1.Renumber WBS for Selected Tasks is broken for one file (it used to work)

I have a schedule where I've frequently renumbered the WBS values for parts
of the schedule, using the [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks] command.

All of a sudden, when I select several tasks (not just one!), and click the
[WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out (the
[Entire Project] option is still selectable).

Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available. When MSP
renumbers the WBS for "Selected Tasks", it uses the first selected item as a
starting reference, and there's a valid WBS value in that task. The numbers
it would normally create with this command, are not already in the Project
file, so uniqueness isn't a problem.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. I've had several
users complain of the same problem, but not until they have renumbered
selected tasks, a lot of times.

Has anyone seen this behavior before, and if so, do you know how we can get
the Selected Tasks WBS Renumbering to work again?

2.Renumbering WBS using the Project/WBS pull down window

I have MS Project 2003 Standard: I wish to renumber an existing WBS. The Help
instructions say: Select Project, then WBS, then Renumber, then Entire
project. When I select Project, then WBS,the window is locked in the "Define
Code" mode. The Renumber option is muted and cannot be selected. Icannot
proceed.
What am I doing wrong?
How can I renumber an existing WBS?

3.WBS Renumber greyed out

Hi,

I'd like to renumber my WBS elements. When I click Projects, WBS the
renumber menu is in grey and can not be used. This happens even a new
project with only two tasks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

5.How to renumber W.B.S. codes

I have MS Project 2003 Professional. There is an option on the Project menu
for 'W.B.S.' 'Renumber', but the 'Renumber' function is not highlighted and
won't let me select it. According to online help you should be able to
select your tasks by name (or entire project) and renumber the W.B.S. codes
but I cannot get it to work. How can you do this?
