  • 1. More than one approver ("or", not "and") ?
I've searched the help files and forums but cannot find if this can or cannot be done, or how to do it if it's possible. I need to set up approvals so that more than one manager gets the notifications but where only one manager is required for approval. In other words, an approval team instead of a single individual. I need to have approvals routed to 3 or 4 managers so they can cover for one-another while traveling and keep the projects going. Is this possible and if so, what do I do to set it up? Thanks.
  • 2. Administrative Project (repost)
Hi, Can you agree with this way of implementation of Admin. Projects or can you propose a better way of working : 1. Create/Publish Admin Project. Tasks Fixed Duration, Non Effort Driven. Period 1/1/04 - 31/12/04 and Actual Start Date of the Task 1/1/04 Assign Resources to the Tasks (? %Units 0%) 2. Team member PWA Tasks Center : Notify your PM of Time You Will Not Be Available for Project Work, and SUBMIT Note : Is there any advantage to SUBMIT the non-project time from the Timesheet View instead ? 3. Project manager of Admin Proj PWA Update : Accepts the non-project time and updates the project plan in project professional. 4. Team Member Eventually : PWA Tasks Center : Enters Actual Work for Non-project time en submits it to PM for updating. Remarques : - The Notify your manager.... can be used also for deleting/updating entries in the timesheet ? - Entering less Actual Work in the timesheet than scheduled work leads to differences in the timesheet view of the teammember and the admin project in project professional concerning the work variable. - Has anyone experience with working with more than one admin project ? - How to free the scheduled work for non-project time ? Ex. I cancel my 5 days holiday that was accepted by the PM. (0h in the "Notify your PM..." view is not send to the PM) Thank you.
  • 3. Calendar updating problems between Outlook Calendar and Project Central
If a Project Resource either i) adds a new Outlook Calendar entry or ii) increases the original entry time period, then the Project Resource's Calendar is succesfully updated in Project Central... but, If a Project Resource either iii) removes a new Outlook Calendar entry or iv) decreases the original entry time period, then the Project Resource's Calendar is NOT succesfully updated in Project Central... why is this and is there a workaround...or should I upgrade to 2002 / 2003 ?? thanks Mick
  • 4. Customize Project Center Date Fields
Does anyone know how to customize the date fields in the Project Center page? The default is date time, and I would like to customize it to show only a short date mm/dd/yyyy. Microsoft has provided the option to "Show time with date" on the Task page, and they provided instructions for customizing the asp pages in Project Central. I have searched the Microsoft website, and have not found what I need. Thanks, John M.

Can't Renumber WBS for "Selected Tasks"

Postby J Baird » Sat, 06 Mar 2004 04:22:47 GMT

I have a schedule, where I've renumbered the WBS numbers for selected tasks,
on a regular basis. ([Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks])

All of a sudden, in the [WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks]
option is greyed out (the [Entire Project] option is still selectable).
Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. Has anyone seen
this behavior before, and if so, do you know what caused it?

Hello J.

If you select only one row, the [WBS Renumber] dialog box presents only the
[Entire Project] option.
Have you tried to select several rows ?

Of course...As I said, I've renumbered selected tasks on a regular basis.
Now, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out. I know that I'm not the
only person that this has happened to.

1.Renumber WBS for Selected Tasks is broken for one file (it used to work)

I have a schedule where I've frequently renumbered the WBS values for parts
of the schedule, using the [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks] command.

All of a sudden, when I select several tasks (not just one!), and click the
[WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out (the
[Entire Project] option is still selectable).

Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available. When MSP
renumbers the WBS for "Selected Tasks", it uses the first selected item as a
starting reference, and there's a valid WBS value in that task. The numbers
it would normally create with this command, are not already in the Project
file, so uniqueness isn't a problem.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. I've had several
users complain of the same problem, but not until they have renumbered
selected tasks, a lot of times.

Has anyone seen this behavior before, and if so, do you know how we can get
the Selected Tasks WBS Renumbering to work again?

2.Renumbering WBS using the Project/WBS pull down window

I have MS Project 2003 Standard: I wish to renumber an existing WBS. The Help
instructions say: Select Project, then WBS, then Renumber, then Entire
project. When I select Project, then WBS,the window is locked in the "Define
Code" mode. The Renumber option is muted and cannot be selected. Icannot
proceed.
What am I doing wrong?
How can I renumber an existing WBS?

3.WBS Renumber greyed out

Hi,

I'd like to renumber my WBS elements. When I click Projects, WBS the
renumber menu is in grey and can not be used. This happens even a new
project with only two tasks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

  Darrell

5.How to renumber W.B.S. codes

I have MS Project 2003 Professional. There is an option on the Project menu
for 'W.B.S.' 'Renumber', but the 'Renumber' function is not highlighted and
won't let me select it. According to online help you should be able to
select your tasks by name (or entire project) and renumber the W.B.S. codes
but I cannot get it to work. How can you do this?
