  • 1. publish administrator settings
When I go to publish a Project to Server, I get the following error message: "You are trying to publish a non-enterprise project to Microsoft Project Server. The administrator settings on the server do not allow you to publish non-enterprise projects." We didn't buy Project with Enterprise functions. Does this mean that we'll never be able to publish a project to Server? If not, how do we proceed? thanks in advance, Ken
  • 2. Sharepoint functions
Hello, We're running Project 2002 Pro with Project Server 2000 and Windows 2000. We are a little confused about the roles of Web Access and SharePoint. There seems to be overlap in their functions. We want to know which page to point our programmers to, and which to point our stakeholders. My understanding is Sharepoint for the stakeholders, Web Access for programmers. But the issues in Sharepoint seem to be for programmers too. Thanks in advance, Ken
  • 3. installing msproject2002 with ms sql server 2000
forum, I was hoping someone could guide me out of my situation. I have recently installed a trial copy of sql server 2000 to use as my database for msproject 2002. I have the sql server running on one machine no problmes and now want to install project 2002 on the other. In my install (project2002)I have 2 options create a new database or connect to an existing one. When i try to create a new databse it replies by saying I do not have SECURITYADMIN or DBCREATOR priviileges which I do. I even tried to create new accounts with all privileges and it still fails. I created a new database with sql privileges and I get the response the specified MSProjectServerRole account failed to log on check you spelling and password. Well I've tried this a million times even changing the passwords and creating new user logins with all privileges but still I cannot cretae or connect to a database. I thank everyone in advance for all responses. FYI I am using the authentication for both windows and sql which I belive over-rides the windows authentication Thanks tt
  • 4. settingup MSproject server 2002 with a separate sql 200 server
forum, I am trying to setup a new msproject2002 server on one machine with another machine that I just installed sql 2000 server. Do I have to do anything special to the sql server before installing msproject on the other machine? When I try to do the install on the msproject machine it fails to create a database on the other machine running sql server using the gui. Saying I don't have sysadmin or dbcreate permissions. when i try to do it from the command line using setupdb I get either failed to login or failed to create a connection [named pipes] does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and can I run the sql on another box starting from scratch or must there be something special done son the sql server? thank so much for all replies

Can't Renumber WBS for "Selected Tasks"

Postby J Baird » Sat, 06 Mar 2004 04:22:47 GMT

I have a schedule, where I've renumbered the WBS numbers for selected tasks,
on a regular basis. ([Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks])

All of a sudden, in the [WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks]
option is greyed out (the [Entire Project] option is still selectable).
Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. Has anyone seen
this behavior before, and if so, do you know what caused it?

Hello J.

If you select only one row, the [WBS Renumber] dialog box presents only the
[Entire Project] option.
Have you tried to select several rows ?

Of course...As I said, I've renumbered selected tasks on a regular basis.
Now, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out. I know that I'm not the
only person that this has happened to.

1.Renumber WBS for Selected Tasks is broken for one file (it used to work)

I have a schedule where I've frequently renumbered the WBS values for parts
of the schedule, using the [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks] command.

All of a sudden, when I select several tasks (not just one!), and click the
[WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out (the
[Entire Project] option is still selectable).

Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available. When MSP
renumbers the WBS for "Selected Tasks", it uses the first selected item as a
starting reference, and there's a valid WBS value in that task. The numbers
it would normally create with this command, are not already in the Project
file, so uniqueness isn't a problem.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. I've had several
users complain of the same problem, but not until they have renumbered
selected tasks, a lot of times.

Has anyone seen this behavior before, and if so, do you know how we can get
the Selected Tasks WBS Renumbering to work again?

2.Renumbering WBS using the Project/WBS pull down window

I have MS Project 2003 Standard: I wish to renumber an existing WBS. The Help
instructions say: Select Project, then WBS, then Renumber, then Entire
project. When I select Project, then WBS,the window is locked in the "Define
Code" mode. The Renumber option is muted and cannot be selected. Icannot
proceed.
What am I doing wrong?
How can I renumber an existing WBS?

3.WBS Renumber greyed out

Hi,

I'd like to renumber my WBS elements. When I click Projects, WBS the
renumber menu is in grey and can not be used. This happens even a new
project with only two tasks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

5.How to renumber W.B.S. codes

I have MS Project 2003 Professional. There is an option on the Project menu
for 'W.B.S.' 'Renumber', but the 'Renumber' function is not highlighted and
won't let me select it. According to online help you should be able to
select your tasks by name (or entire project) and renumber the W.B.S. codes
but I cannot get it to work. How can you do this?
