I made resource assignments in a published project, saved them, closed project, reopened it and they were present. When logged on to Web Access as that resource could not see assignments. However, could assign tasks to myself that were alreadly listed as assigned to me but not in my tasks. Surely each resource does not have to reassign tasks to themselves that the project manager has already assigned in Pro and server? When I defined the resource as Enterprise Resource, the Web Access account was set up automatically. I updated the resource account with all default template values at lowest level as Team Member. What is missing? I hope I get an accurate answer faster than other questions I've seen listed in this area. Thanks
  • 3. Pro & Server assigned resource not assigned in Web Access
Saved resource assignment in Pro & server not listed as My Assigned Tasks when resource looks using Web Access. However, they can manually assign tasks to themselves. When the available tasks for assignment are listed they are listed in the display window of Assign Myself a Task as assigned to the resource, but listed under View My Tasks. What is missing? Resource created in Enterprise and it automatically create Web Access acct. Updated accout with Team Member default template permissions. After Assigning Myself a task the Task appeared in View My tasks but not the others already assigned to me in Pro & Server. What is the solution? Thanks

It was loaded on about 10 PMs machines in standalone mode. We are going to implement Project Server 2003 and we want to provide approximatley 75 resources access using PWA. How do I satisfy the Project Server CAL requirement without installing Project Professional on everyone's desktop? How does Project Server keep track of CALs? > > Thanks, > John Simko, PMP John, You satisfy the requirement by purchasing enough CAL's to cover all the employees who don't have one. Users who have project pro (you said 10) don't need one. Project server usually comes with a number (5 in the cases I've seen) so if you have 75 people total who are using PWA you need 60 more licenses. I believe they are around $100 each, but I could be quite wrong on the price. It doesn't really matter how Project Server keeps track of it. You are responsible for ensuring compliance. -Jack

Can't Renumber WBS for "Selected Tasks"

Postby J Baird » Sat, 06 Mar 2004 04:22:47 GMT

I have a schedule, where I've renumbered the WBS numbers for selected tasks,
on a regular basis. ([Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks])

All of a sudden, in the [WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks]
option is greyed out (the [Entire Project] option is still selectable).
Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. Has anyone seen
this behavior before, and if so, do you know what caused it?

Hello J.

If you select only one row, the [WBS Renumber] dialog box presents only the
[Entire Project] option.
Have you tried to select several rows ?

Of course...As I said, I've renumbered selected tasks on a regular basis.
Now, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out. I know that I'm not the
only person that this has happened to.

1.Renumber WBS for Selected Tasks is broken for one file (it used to work)

I have a schedule where I've frequently renumbered the WBS values for parts
of the schedule, using the [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Select Tasks] command.

All of a sudden, when I select several tasks (not just one!), and click the
[WBS Renumber] dialog box, the [Selected Tasks] option is greyed out (the
[Entire Project] option is still selectable).

Nothing else has changed...the WBS settings and Code Definition are still
the same as when the [Selected Tasks] option was available. When MSP
renumbers the WBS for "Selected Tasks", it uses the first selected item as a
starting reference, and there's a valid WBS value in that task. The numbers
it would normally create with this command, are not already in the Project
file, so uniqueness isn't a problem.

To try to fix the problem , I selected [Project][Wbs][Renumber][Entire
Project], to renumber the entire project, hoping that would bring back the
[Selected Tasks] option, but it didn't.

I can't find anything in the knowledge base about this. I've had several
users complain of the same problem, but not until they have renumbered
selected tasks, a lot of times.

Has anyone seen this behavior before, and if so, do you know how we can get
the Selected Tasks WBS Renumbering to work again?

2.Renumbering WBS using the Project/WBS pull down window

I have MS Project 2003 Standard: I wish to renumber an existing WBS. The Help
instructions say: Select Project, then WBS, then Renumber, then Entire
project. When I select Project, then WBS,the window is locked in the "Define
Code" mode. The Renumber option is muted and cannot be selected. Icannot
proceed.
What am I doing wrong?
How can I renumber an existing WBS?

3.WBS Renumber greyed out

Hi,

I'd like to renumber my WBS elements. When I click Projects, WBS the
renumber menu is in grey and can not be used. This happens even a new
project with only two tasks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

  Darrell

5.How to renumber W.B.S. codes

I have MS Project 2003 Professional. There is an option on the Project menu
for 'W.B.S.' 'Renumber', but the 'Renumber' function is not highlighted and
won't let me select it. According to online help you should be able to
select your tasks by name (or entire project) and renumber the W.B.S. codes
but I cannot get it to work. How can you do this?
