  • 1. Drop down list
I've got a presentation that I use weekly but change certain items in the text from a set list. Is there a way I can create a drop down list to quickly select the item? Alternatively I can easily create the list in excel, is there some method, such as a macro, to copy these cells from excel and place them in certain positions on the powerpoint presentation? Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • 2. Color schems and MS Graph colors
My graph doesn't follow the rule, that is 6 colors are from PPT's color scheme (#5, 6, 7, 8, 3, 4). The first series picks up a color from one of 40 colors above (in MS Graph color swatch) (instead from the color of Color scheme #5), the second picks up correctly (2nd color of first 8 colors in MS Graph, that is from Color scheme #6), and the third, like the first color, picks from 40 colors above, not from the third of the first row of 8 colors. What happened? How could I fix it? Thx for help!
  • 3. Narration and Animation - aligning the timing
Hello. I was hoping that you could explain to me (or refer me to a site that would explain) how to combine narration with animation. It appears to me that once I record a narration, I would play it using "rehearse timing," and - at that time - would have to notice that there is a reference to animation "A" at n seconds, animation "B" at m seconds, etc. I would then go back to the animations and set the timing of "A" and "B" to occur at n seconds and m seconds from the start. Is this correct? Thanks.
  • 4. when I add sound the slideshow sticks at the first slide
I have made a slide show of 20 slides in Powerpoint 2003. Everything works fine when I play this back, but when I add a music file the playback stops at the first slide but if I go to 'next slide' it continues no problem but with no sound.. If I then remove the music, the show plays .What have I done wrong?
  • 5. Attached to the Theme, But Not
I am creating a PPT 2007 template. I have carefully followed the Themes SDK. The bullets in my master slide content placeholder are absolutely reading from Accent 1 in my the best of my understanding. When I swap themes (autopreview, or full on) the bullet color keeps reading the Accent 1 color from my custom theme. All other elements change. I'm wondering if this could be due to the userDrawn issue, but autoshapes on master in my theme swap to the new theme fine. Could it be the bullet symbol type, or something else? Please advise if you know. Thank you.

Cannot change presentation

Postby Ruster » Sat, 16 Aug 2003 23:26:38 GMT

I have one machine which has a strange problem. The user has a couple
PowerPoint presentations which are about 15 MB each. He opens both so he can
cut and paste between the two. If he opens outlook or word and goes back to
the presentation he can no longer select anything on the presentation. The
only fix is to reboot the computer and start over.

He had office 2000 premium then we upgraded him to office XP (this is when
the problem arise), plus we installed virtually every service pack. The OS
is windows 2000 Pro SP4 and all patches are applied. His machine is 2.2 GHz
AMD with 256 MB RAM and 25 GB available disk space.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd suspect resources, but this sounds more drastic than that -- plus
it's a speedy machine.

Some things to try (most of which have worked for me at one time or
another when confronted with strange behavior such as this)

1. Change hardware acceleration. Instrux at
http://www.**--****.com/ 'd guess lower is better
in this case.

2. Update or reinstall your mouse drivers. I know, it sounds weird.

3. Update your video drivers.

4. Make sure you have a default printer driver available to the
computer. http://www.**--****.com/
know, that sounds weird, too. <g>

5. If all else fails, check to make sure you haven't been hit with that
W32.Blaster worm thing. I've seen reports saying that people can't
copy/paste and other stuff like that when they've been hit with it.

6. See if turning off your virus scanning software makes a difference.

Hopefully one of those will take care of it. If not, holler back and
we'll scratch our heads some more.

1.Individual changes to master slide cannot be saved

I've created some master slides. When I make an individual change to it, for

5.Cannot change slides per page

I am unable to change the slides per page value in the Print Handouts
box. A value of 6 is shown but it is grayed out and cannot be changed.
I can temporarily make it work by going to Tools Options Print and
changing Print What to Handouts (2 slides per page). But once I have
printed something and then return to the regular Print menu I find the
number is grayed out (6) again.
I would appreciate any suggestions. Is there something I can tweak in
the registry that would let me select the number of slides per page?
