  • 1. How can I modify bullets in Visio?
I working with Visio 2002. I have a bullet list, but the spacing between the bullet and the first letter of the text is too wide. In the Format Text dialoge box, there is no clear selection to change this spacing. I'm sure I'm missing something. Is there an easy way to do this?

  • 3. Re-Applying Visio 2003 Template...
Does anyone know how I can re-apply a template to a Visio Drawing? I have a template containing background pages that act as different layouts, I am adding new ones to the template but because Visio doesn't link the template my older drawings do not see the new additions. Is there anyway I can re-apply a template to my drawing to alow it to see the new background pages (short of copying the drawing to a new drawing created using the newly changed template)? Thank you in advance. Martin Dobson System Developer
  • 4. Editing protected (?!) properties on a master
Hi everyone, I'm having trouble editing some properties when creating new master. I'll give an example, but it's a generic problem. 1) Open "Servers" stencil under Networks and lookup icon representing the database server (has a small blue cylinder) 2) I normally create a new master by dragging the shape onto the drawing and then back to my own stencil 3) Now all I want is to change the colour of the cylinder from blue to say yellow (after ungrouping the whole master) I can't seem to be able to do that. It would be nice to know what keeps me from doing that - there's no protection on the shape. Any suggestions welcome...
  • 5. Visio via Citrix Metaframe client - .vsd files not recognised as Visio files/objects and can not be inserted as Microsoft Visio Drawing object
Dear reader, I hope you may be able to assist me with the following: A user in my company would like to be able to insert a Microsoft Visio Drawing into a Word document, as a Microsoft Visio Drawing object, in order to be able to right-click this and select "Visio Object -> Edit/Open" within the document. Having Visio locally installed on the PC, this works as designed. To save a little on licensing, we're running Visio via Citrix Metaframe client but we have Visio Viewer locally installed to support at least viewing of visio files even without Citrix. I.e. the VSD file format is registered to IE. Hence I see two challanges: 1. How to register VSD with Visio via Citrix and 2. How to make Word recognise VSD to be a Visio Drawing Object and to edit/open such into Visio via Citrix (1.) I have posted the issue in the following newsgroups: microsoft.public.visio microsoft.public.visio.general microsoft.public.visio.troubleshoot microsoft.public.word.drawing.graphics as well as to Citrix Systems Inc. no security settings!

Postby francesco » Wed, 09 Jul 2003 17:33:11 GMT

no, I don't have any security setting blocking me from
downloading VML; simply, on some pc it doesn't ask for any
download, while on some others it asks, but then I can't
find the files.
Where should I look for them?

1.Macro Security Setting -- WARNING MESSAGES!!

Why after changing this setting does every other add-in NOT EVEN remotely
related to VISIO pop-up with a warning.

If I decide to change a security setting in Visio, the application should
not change the security settings for my entire machine or every other
application on the box.

What's the deal? Why do all the pop-up warning messages come up in sequence
-- almost 100 of them... on apps and services NOT EVEN remotely affiliated
with visio or any other microsoft product.

Is there a local setting for ALL products on the box somewhere?

Can this be related to the Visio indexing service stuff?

2.Help - Setting page setting

Hi,

Is it possible to set a default page orientation in Visio? I prefer to use
Landscape with UML documents and it is a pain to have to change it for every
new Visio file.

Thanks.

3.Setting Default Snap & Glue Settings

Is there any way to set the defaults for Snap & Glue settings so that when a
new Visio drawing is created my defaults will apply. Using a Visio template
is not feasible.

I would like to establish them via stencil, master shapes, or by the drawing
creation event.

Also, I am not able to determine where these settings are stored in the
shapesheets for either the drawing or page shapesheets.

5.Visio files in IE - This web page is trying to communicate with your computer using a protocol that your security settings won't allow

Hi all

I have a really annoying issue where when myself or anyone in the
company opens a Visio file from Outlook or via Internet Explorer on a
PC, we get the following message - This web page is trying to
communicate with your computer using a protocol that your security
settings won't allow.

So when we double click and open the Visio file it will open IE and
then come up with the error message. However if we save the Visio
file, and then open it, it works perfectly.

We are running a mix of XP SP2 and IE6 with all the major service
packs and also Vista SP1 with IE7 and all the major service packs. And
we are running the Visio 2003 Viewer

I have tried changing some of the trusted site settings and also the
Feature Control settings as well, but with no luck. Its the protocol
bit thats really confusing me.

Has anyone got any ideas.

Thanks
David
