  • 1. Set Default Text Format
Is there any way to make Visio always start a text box formatted with the horizontal alignment set to Left & the vertical alignment set to top?
  • 2. Angry: Must I now redo ALL my 2002 UI mockups to 2003...?
All, I've just upgraded from Visio 2002 to 2003. I built several mockups in V2002 of a software UI that uses the "Blank Form" shape quite a bit. Unfortunately, in V2003, that shape looks quite a bit different than it did in the previous version (as do the tab controls, etc.). Besides uninstalling the update, is there a way to go back to the previous appearance of the Windows components? Are they stored in a stencil somewhere that I'm just not seeing? Or must I now redo all of my older mockups so that they conform to the new ones I build...? Thanks for any help, Mike
  • 3. US Date Field in Metric Borders and Title Stencil
Hi, I'm using Visio 2003 Pro SP1. When I drag a "Title block corporate 2" onto my page from the "Borders and Titles (Metric)" stencil it has a date field which gets updated to the current date. Great - except that it comes out in US date format (mm/dd/yyyy) and I'm in the UK where the convention is dd/mm/yyyy. My computer has it's keyboard and locale set to UK - I can get pound signs and @ in the right places - so I'm assuming that it's not OS related. Can I change the format of that date field in the "Title block corporate 2"? Thanks Chas
  • 4. did someone meet problems using Visio Viewer 2003 and Visio Professional 2003 on same machine?
Visio Viewer 2003 and Visio Professional 2003 don't work together properly. If you install visio viewer 2003 and then try to open some .vsd file with IE it opens fine, but if you then run Visio Professional you'll see that windows installer runs. It change IE configuration so it starts to use "Visio service" to display .vsd (and other associated files) not Visio Viewer plug-in. This is not right because I don't want to be able to change .vsd files with IE, i just want to view them. Also this became a problem when I need to view .vsd files through Web, cause after I click on link to my .vsd file and answer in dialog window "Open" nothing happens! It just show error page. Question is: is there some way to change IE configuration (may be in registry) so it starts to use Visio Viewer again?
  • 5. Org Chart layout problems
I am having difficulty getting the automatic org chart layout working correctly. I have a chart with about 25 employees, both managers and positions in teams uder a single manager. On the Organization Chart menu, I click Re-layout and the chart becomes a jumble, including boxes overlapping and lines routing through boxes. If I click on the highest level manager and click Arrange subordinates I get similar results. I am using Vision 2003 SP1. Is this expected behavior? How can I lay out shapes automatically without having this occur? Thanks, Michael

Visio 2003 Pro and ORM creation doubt

Postby QXJtYW5kbyBFc3Rhw7FvbA » Thu, 13 Nov 2003 06:56:13 GMT

I was looking at .NET Show episode 25, where they talk about ORM and Visio. I was looking at a thing they call the Verbalizer. My question is, where do I get that window to establish predicates and examples? I have installed Visio 2003 Pro, and it seems it doesn't appear anywhere
I have already opened the ORM Diagram type, but that screen, along with the Database menu does not appears. I have already tried Repairing my installation, but everything seems fine
Thanks.

The functionality you saw in that show is only available with the version
(Visio for Enterprise Architects) packaged with Visual Studio .Net for
Enterprise Architects. The stencil that ships with Pro is only a drawing
stencil, it doesn't have any of the "deep modeling" support.

Hope that helps,
Scot.

1.How to convert Visio Pro 2003 Trial to Visio Standard 2003 pro

Thanks for the info. I give you a "hot" tip: forget CD distribution globally
and let people download the code from the network and just start to sell
Product Keys. I guess the same trial code might include both Pro and Standard
versions and depending on the Product Key, the appropriate version could be
enabled. I assume buying from the net is already possible in US but why not
elsewhere, too? For example, on my market area Visio is not available in any
shops but you must order CD and wait a considerable time. This is pretty
stupid because I have the 189 MB code already on my hard disk :-)

Cheers, Postgraduate

3.Windows XP Pro X64, Office 2003 pro and Vision 2003

Hi all,

I have a PC with above configuration. Unfortunately the Office and Visio are
with English spell checking. I live in Denmark and would like to Danish spell
checking and grammar. I have been told by MS in Denmark that I have to buy
five (5) socalled MUI licenses to get Danish for my one (1) PC.

Can anyone help with a link to a download for the required installation and
multilanguage handling programs and the required Danish language files ?

Yours sincerely

5.Automated flow diagram creation in Visio 2003

Hi,
We are in the process of creating an application interface diagram. as we
have more than 1200 interfaces, manually laying them out is proving to be
impossible and we were wondering if there was any way we could directly
upload a .csv / .xls file into Visio and allow the tool to lay it out for us?
I understand in Visio 2002 there was an option to import .csv files which no
longer exists in 2003. The Org Chart wizard is not much use to us since we
could have one more than one relationship between two objects.
E.g. of the kind of data would be:

Source Target Interface Name
Sys1 Sys2 X1
Sys1 Sys2 X2
Sys2 Sys1 X3
Sys3 Sys1 X4

Thanks in advance for your help.
