  • 1. Error in Loading DLL
Hi, I am getting a weird error in VS.NET 2003 architect edition when I try to create any new Visual c# projects, I get a message coming up saying "error in loading dll". The project appears empty in the solution explorer with no references and no files. If I then try to add a new windows form I get the same error, similarly for web forms etc. It is only occuring for c#, as Vb.net and C++ appear to work fine - has anyone any ideas on how I can fix this (ideally without a reinstall!)? Its only just started today after VS.Net has been installed and stable for 9 months! Thanks in advance, Peter Cook
  • 2. Highlight current line?
Is it possible to have the IDE change the background color of the line that the cursor is on? That would be nice.
  • 3. Compile errors - only sometimes
Anyone seen this? I can build project and all goes well, then start debugging and get build errors, click NO to not run, start debugging and all is well again. It is very frustrating especially since the dang thing has to check EVERY project even if there was no work done on it.

Start Page items unavailable

Postby Inge Buller » Wed, 11 Feb 2004 20:28:31 GMT

Hi!

Some of the links on my Start Page are unavailable: Web Hosting, XML Web
Services, Downloads, Headlines, Online Community.

All I see is "This feature requires that you have connected to the internet
previously or are currently online". However my internet connection is OK
for other purposes and the "What new" link on the Star Page is working.

Could it be some settings that need to be changed?

Regards,

Inge

I have the same problem here.
As you all can see, I can connect to the Internet, no proxy, just NAT on our LAN. I can browse the whole web using VS.NET 2003 (version 7.1.3088), all available security patches are installed on my XP machine
What doesn't work is
- What's new - CHek for VS.NET service pack
- Online communit
- Headline
- Download
- XML Web Service
- Web Hosting

I really do hope there will be an adequate solutions for this because it is really annoying. Maybe someone can tell if VS.NET is using a specific port to connect to these resources

After surfing around for some time, I have found some other people having
similar problems, but no answers.
My guess is some firewall issue - I using ICF in XP with default settings,
everything closed.
Ports to open?

ICF has nothing to do with it. In my situation it is switched off, but I still have the same problem as you do

Ton.

Totally correct. I tried switching off ICF and lowering the security setting
for IE yesterday - same result.
There is a thread in microsoft.public.vstudio.general (see below) that
suggests IE updates as being the source, no fix though.
I finding it strange that Ms seems to be unaware of the problem...
Will dig deeper.

no more replies by now ... looks like i've got to live with it :-(
as i mentioned, uninstalling this years IE updates solved the problem for
me, but that opens several security holes.

This happened to me too and I'm sorry I can't remember how I
resolved it but I can rub it in a little ;-)

If I can remember what I did to re-enable the functionality I
will return but I can say I do not remember IE updates having
anything to do with it.

1.VS .NET 2003 IDE - Start Page Online Resources unavailable

My Online Resources tab of the VS .NET 2003 IDE does not work. I get the
message: "This feature requires that you have connected to the internet

My internet setup is quite simple: direct cable connection thru a router,
no software firewall programs are running. I have a Windows XP SP-1 with
all security patches installed.

I have seen this message in previous messages in the newsgroup but no
answer as yet.

I have already spent hours researching the solution of this, however
99% or articles that I've found suggested me to do something about the
ASPNET account. This box is a Windows 2000 domain controller, so
there is no local account that I can tweak.

I applied all solutions that I've found that has nothing specificaly
to do with the ASPNET account. But none of them helped. I have
already tried the following things:

(A)
Assign special permisson for the IWAN_{servername} and
IUSR_{servername} into thhoem directory of WSUS website

(B)
Adding the logged on user and IWAN. IUSR accounts into the WSUS
Administrators groups under the domain
