does an ASR backup backup the boot volume only, or both the boot AND system volumes? I know it backs up system files and system state, my question is specifically about what whole volumes get backed up. any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to make it so a server(win2k) is fully ready and usable(as domain server, etc) w/o having to log in locally.
  • 3. Windows 2003 Enterprise Freezes
Hi everybody, I'm having a problem and I really don't know what to do anymore. Maybe someone here can help me. My Windows 2003 Server Enterprise was in a reboot loop for a while. Then I could pass Chkdsk with the /r option to correct possible flaws in the disk and now it can boot and saty "awake" for a while. I can log into the system as administrator. However, when I try to do something it freezes the computer. Sometimes, the video disappears. Sometimes we keep seeing the video but the system is frozen. Even in safe mode, the system does the same thing. The system has SP1 installed and is fairly up to date. It was working nicely for more than a year without any problem. Suddenly this started to happen. I already changed the memory, changed the position of the memory to the scond slot available and changed the hard drive to the secondary ide controller. Ah, I also ghosted the hard drive to another one, because I thought it was an HD problem. Unfortunately nothing seems to be working. Does anyone here have a clue of what is going on? I think it very unlikely that it has a virus or a spyware, and, even if it has, I'm not very sure how will I remove them if I can't stay logged even for 2 minutes. I would really appreciate any insights on this problem. Mackenzie Melo
  • 4. task manager no names or users
Hi! I'm running Windows Server 2003 SBS. To access the server, I usually use remote desktop connection. Suddenly, it didn't accept remote connections. I had to log on locally. Everything seems to work, but users don't show up in task manager. Either in pricess list (empty) nor in users tab. I found similar problems in this discussion group, but no solution. I don't want to delete documents and settings folder. Is there a work-around? Best regards, Thommes

What is the easiest way to install the Previous Versions app on client systems? We tried to push it out with Executive Software's Sitekeeper program but it didn't install successfully and we don't want to try and push it out with a GP and have to change the users group membership.

Software for tracking computer usage

Postby dln » Fri, 28 Oct 2005 02:32:47 GMT

I'm wondering if anybody knows of a software package for Windows that
records how much time is spent by each process and user on the system and
then stores that information in retrievable format for later viewing. What
I'm looking for is a way to determine the overall system utilization over
the course of period of time (week, month, etc...), broken down by user
and/or process, and track it all in a report somehow. Does anything like
that exist?

Thanks.

1.Software For Tracking Usage??

Newbie Question ...

I finally leased a server for my website only. Can anyone suggest (or point
me in the right direction) to any "tracking software" I could load onto my
server (client-side log analysis) WITHOUT having to add some kind of java
code to all my 600 or so pages??

Thanks

that users are on the internet using IE6? I have a 7 day history file.Is

3.Have usage rights but cannot play tracks

You mean you downloaded them from the now-defunct MSN Music site. You're
pretty well screwed. See your attorney about a class-action suit. This is
the future of DRM. You buy something and then the company or the technology
goes away and you're screwed.

4.usage data..tracking who shares, who purchases drm windows media f

I am trying to find out how one uniquely identifies a "sharer" of a
particular windows media file with drm encoding. via the license clearing
house model.

Eg: customer A downloads media file from site X. Customer A shares file
with Customer B.

How do you identify the folks that shared these files?
-content id+ key id??
-indiviualized player id?

I believe this is something that is passed in a header to the licensing
clearing house. But since i am rather new with this technology, i could be
completly off.
