  • 4. Which Server OS to buy?
    Hi all, I need to purchase a server OS for my company and I am totally puzzled. I searched Microsoft's website, but it was very hard to find information and compare products. I was familiar with Windows 2000 Server but it seems that there is now a 2003 (I guess I am behind computerwise), although 2000 is still available. Company: Small business, 9 employees Server: P4, 3 MHz, 512 MB, 2x 80 GB HDD Usage: primarily file and print server, but will need client/server databasing in near future Any advice or recommendation highly appreciated. • 5. Blocking Web Browsing on a Server 2003 network
    We have several machines that need Internet access for certain applications, however we want to block users from accessing the Internet for browsing purposes. Is there a way to block only IE or port 80 without affecting the other ports or applications on these Windows XP machines that need access to the Internet? Obviously I would like to do this centrally through Group Policy, but any solution will do. -- Todd

Hi,

all in a sudden, I can't start the BITS service on both of my Windows 2003
SP2 X64 Enterprise servers. When I try to start it, the following log
appeared in the System Log:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	Service Control Manager
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	7023
Date:		2008-11-4
Time:		16:11:08
User:		N/A
Computer:	SHECPORTAL01
Description:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
 http://www.**--****.com/

the above event repeated in the System Log every 30 seconds. Could you help?

Is that the only event log error? Check the value of ImagePath is;

%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS

Also make sure the value of ServiceDll is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmgr.dll

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters

and try re-registering.
