    When I try to restore a System State backup thru NTBackup, I get over 1000 of these numbered $RestoredActiveFilexxxxx in c:\windows\system32. This doesn't happen when I try restoring in Safe Mode. The system fails to boot after the restore every time, does anyone have any suggestions? I am a broken, defeated person because of this issue - I have been working on it all week with absolutely no luck. • 3. New W2K3 install and setup rebooting and event 1003 error.
    I have recently set up AD, DNS, and SUS server and installed Symantec AV Corporarte 9.0 on a new server which has W2K3 installed. The server is rebooting from 1 to three times a day and disconnecting users at that time (of course). I get Error message upon the restart that appears when logging back in which contains this information: Event type: Error Event Source: System Error Event Catagory: (102) Event ID: 1003 Then the date, time, Computer (server) name, and a Description: Error code 00000020, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 0000ffb, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 00000001. All hardware and the OS came installed (from Dell) and I added the Anti Virus software and set up SUS server to synchronize with Microsoft. I indicates synchronization. I created a new domain on the same subnet as the old domain (NT 4.0) based and made it a mixed domain until I joined all XP Professional clients and disconnected the NT 4.0 machine. I had installed Terminal Services on the Server so that I could contact it from another workstation to make necessary changes. I have stopped that service to try to eliminate the reboot problem and nothing changed. I have searched the knowledge base on MSDN and found nothing to help. I need help understanding what is happening. Thanks. Justice

  • 5. Remote Desktop Administration
    I've already enabled remote desktop administration and added the appropriate users who need access. Whenever I use remote desktop connection in Windows XP, the remote session connects and I'm presented with the logon window. I logon, but immediately after "loading your personal settings" it goes to "Logging off" and "saving your settings" and remote desktop connection disconnects. So after I login it immediately logs me off, no matter what user, even admin. I've never seen this problem before and I've done this several times with other servers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

all in a sudden, I can't start the BITS service on both of my Windows 2003
SP2 X64 Enterprise servers. When I try to start it, the following log
appeared in the System Log:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	Service Control Manager
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	7023
Date:		2008-11-4
Time:		16:11:08
User:		N/A
Computer:	SHECPORTAL01
Description:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
 http://www.**--****.com/

the above event repeated in the System Log every 30 seconds. Could you help?

Is that the only event log error? Check the value of ImagePath is;

%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS

Also make sure the value of ServiceDll is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmgr.dll

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters

and try re-registering.
