  • 3. Win2K3-SP1 Server + SQL Dbase's + Error 800423f4 w/ ntbackup
    Hi all, Have the task of finding a solution to ensuring backups of SQL DB's are performed using ntbackup. The backup fails with the above error. Checked it out on the MS site and referred myself to KB-828481. Spoke to MS Tech's and they sent through a hotfix - didn't solve anything; reporting: "Setup has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying. there is no need to install this update." ...... *sigh* The DB's are in FULL Recovery mode (it is a production server) and changing them to SIMPLE recovery mode is not a solution for us. Any suggestions to how I can resolve this effectively ?? We're currently performing the backups of the DB's to a server that is not Win2K3, but this is solution that we want to stick with. The Win2K3 server has an Tape unit that's doing nothing presently now. ------------- Cheers, Cameron -----------------------------------------------------------------
  • 4. ATI Fire GL 3100
    Does anyone have any experience using this ATI Fire GL 3100 PCI Express with Windows 2003 Server? Getting Blue Screen of Death after trying both shipped and latest latest drivers from Dell. Uninstalling driver brings operation back to normal. Computer is Dell Precision 370. Windows 2003 not listed as supported, but have used ATI Radeon 9800 on another computer and that isn't listed as supporting Windows 2003 either. Ptherwise, can anyone recommend reasonably priced PCI Express graphics board that does work with Windows 2003? Thanks, Alan

Hi,

all in a sudden, I can't start the BITS service on both of my Windows 2003
SP2 X64 Enterprise servers. When I try to start it, the following log
appeared in the System Log:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	Service Control Manager
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	7023
Date:		2008-11-4
Time:		16:11:08
User:		N/A
Computer:	SHECPORTAL01
Description:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
 http://www.**--****.com/

the above event repeated in the System Log every 30 seconds. Could you help?

Is that the only event log error? Check the value of ImagePath is;

%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS

Also make sure the value of ServiceDll is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmgr.dll

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters

and try re-registering.
