    hidden files/folders, hidden recovery partition, swap files, system files, other volumes can make up the difference. Have you checked them? Btw, 40GB is the advertised size. Actual size is probably somewhere around 36-37GB. • 2. windows 2003 server backup will not overwrite tape without prompti
    I am trying to use Windows 2003 standard server's backup utility to do scheduled backups after hours. I have a tape assigned to each day of the work week, but when I try to reuse the tape I get this prompt: There is no free media available with the selected type, but the following media was found: "media created 10/28/2004 at 9:32 AM" in device "Quantum DLTtape (tm) DLT4000 Drive" Do you want to use this media now? Warning! The media appears to contain a vald backup. It will be erased if you use this media. I need a way to stop this prompt from coming up. the tape drive is a HP Surestore DLT 40 I can access the tape through the backup software. The volume was created by the backup job that is prompting me. Under tools, options, general I have the following checked: Compute selection information before backup and restore operations. Use the catalogs on the media to speed up building restore catalogs on disk. Backup the contents of mounted drives. Show alert message when I start the backup utility and removable storage is not running. Show alert message when new media is inserted. Always allow use of recognizable media without prompting. I am using the normal backup type. Is there a command line switch, batch file or check box that will stop that prompt?

Hi,

all in a sudden, I can't start the BITS service on both of my Windows 2003
SP2 X64 Enterprise servers. When I try to start it, the following log
appeared in the System Log:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	Service Control Manager
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	7023
Date:		2008-11-4
Time:		16:11:08
User:		N/A
Computer:	SHECPORTAL01
Description:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
 http://www.**--****.com/

the above event repeated in the System Log every 30 seconds. Could you help?

Is that the only event log error? Check the value of ImagePath is;

%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS

Also make sure the value of ServiceDll is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmgr.dll

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters

and try re-registering.
