    I have set up the POP and SMTP servers in Windows 2003 server. At first everything worked fine but now for some reason I cannot receive emails to my POP account. Sending works fine. I have no restrictions on IP addresses and I have tried using and not using a smart host. When I try to send an email to myself it goes to the BAD Mail subdirectory. Can anyone help? Thanks! George
  • 2. Win2k Server freezes about 1 every 2 weeks
    Roughly around the same time (beginning of week) my Win2k server (SP4) will freeze making it very slow for users to login and also print. The server is not able to be navigated through the GUI and needs to be rebooted to come back to life. This server acts as a DC in its own subnet, also as a print server. It runs full backups on Fridays, which I thought was the problem but the backup jobs are complete by Monday. The backup software is patched and up to date. I Thought maybe a print driver would be the issue so I updated all of them (3). I'd like to set some Performence monitors on this box to find out what is freezing it. There aren't any virus's on it, it's always up to date with latest MS patches. Any help to shed some light would be great. AC

  • 4. bulk adding users
    hello, i'm pretty new to windows 2003 server, so please, bear with me. i have to make a bunch of users(500, and all are devided in 7 groups). i don't want to do this one by one. because there is this command line : LDIFDE (and CSV??). that's where i got stuck. i couldn't find anything helpfull about writing that file, or how to use it with windows 2003 command line. so i was wondering if someone could help me with that. if you were wondering, these are the specified user accounts : group name Account name group 1 2000-2020 group 2 3000-3250 group 3 4000-4100 group 4 7000-7010 group 5 5000-5010 group 6 6000-6100 group 7 1000-1010 any help would be greatly appriciated, jeroen
  • 5. Default SMTP Server / IIS
    I have Server 2000. I have been reading that in IIS I should see a Default SMTP server. I do not. I'm thinking it might also be because I have Exchange Server 2000 installed. Does anyone know if that is the case? Also, if it is - could that be why I can't get CDONTS to send mail? Could it be looking for the Default SMTP server? I have one set up in exchange. Thanks.

Hi,

all in a sudden, I can't start the BITS service on both of my Windows 2003
SP2 X64 Enterprise servers. When I try to start it, the following log
appeared in the System Log:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	Service Control Manager
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	7023
Date:		2008-11-4
Time:		16:11:08
User:		N/A
Computer:	SHECPORTAL01
Description:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
 http://www.**--****.com/

the above event repeated in the System Log every 30 seconds. Could you help?

Is that the only event log error? Check the value of ImagePath is;

%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS

Also make sure the value of ServiceDll is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmgr.dll

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters

and try re-registering.
