  • 1. Map Drive Question
    There are login/logon scripts and startup/shutdown scripts. You create a .bat with the command line that connects the drivers you want. Then apply it to any computer or user you want, at startup script... So, when the computers starts up it runs the script itself, and connecting the driver BEFORE everyone do logon. You must go to Active Directory Users and Computers, and put the script into a GPO that will affect yours especifics computers... At GPO you will find computer configuration>windows configuration>Scripts(startup/shutdown). Double click at Startup to open it, and when the screen opens, click at SHOW FILES. It`s to only place that you must save your .bat file that will work, no other place. I've got a Dell Precision 670 workstation that I would like to run Windows Server 2003 x64 on, but the onboard AIC-7910 is not supported with that OS. Can someone recommend a good SCSI adapter that I can use in this box with 2 Seagate 15k U320 drives in a non-RAID configuration? Thanks! -- Jim
  • 3. ACCESS DENIED - MAC Folder copied to SBS2003
    I have a folder that was copied to a shared folder on a windows sbs 2003 server. The original MAC user and all other users are now unable to open or acquire ownership. I have tried many ways to take ownership but can't do anything to this folder. There is a program ExtremeZ-IP installed on server to help MAC users work with AD. It has a utility to allow changing permissions (MAC style) but windows won't allow the security settings to be changed. I get error (5) and/or error 1332. Any ideas?

    I am running SBS 2003. I receive a "The page cannot be displayed" error under the Remote Web Workplace "header" when selecting either the "Monitor Help Desk" or "Administer the company's internal Web site". All other functions work (so far) (login, exchange, remote desktop, etc) I receive this error when browsing from the IIS Manager or via an external IP connection. Where do I start? • 5. NT4 Domain Controller question
    Hello, I have question for any NT4 gurus that may be left. I may have a situation in the near future where I'll need to promote on BDC to PDC for day or more while the PDC (hardware an OS) are rebuilt. The actual promotion itself seem to go OK. However the WINS entry for the domain does not, and I may have to alter this manually. My question is two fold. 1) is this normal behaviour, or am I simply not waiting long enough? How long should this take? 2) I have some one way and two way trusts to other domains. Do these trusts need to be re-established or should this all be transparent? Any advice, or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

all in a sudden, I can't start the BITS service on both of my Windows 2003
SP2 X64 Enterprise servers. When I try to start it, the following log
appeared in the System Log:

Event Type:	Error
Event Source:	Service Control Manager
Event Category:	None
Event ID:	7023
Date:		2008-11-4
Time:		16:11:08
User:		N/A
Computer:	SHECPORTAL01
Description:
The Background Intelligent Transfer Service service terminated with the
following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
 http://www.**--****.com/

the above event repeated in the System Log every 30 seconds. Could you help?

Is that the only event log error? Check the value of ImagePath is;

%SystemRoot%\system32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS

Also make sure the value of ServiceDll is;

C:\WINDOWS\system32\qmgr.dll

and is type Reg_Expand_Sz

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BITS\Parameters

and try re-registering.
