I don't know how it happened, but my admin password (admin acct is my main account with all saved files here) stopped working today. No one was near it, but nothing is working. I tried caps lock, old passwords, etc. I had been using it for several months. It is connected to a password protected home wifi network. The other comp (no password protection on second comp) is fine. My second account (non-admin) is fine. I am using a Toshiba laptop, and tried trinity rescue, but it wouldn't start no matter how many times I restarted the comp. I changed the bios settings to begin with the disc reader, but still no luck. I am not very computer savvy, so even entering safe mode, I don't know what to do next. I also tried the offline NT password reset disc download. Again, the disc wouldn't run at startup. I tried F2, F8, F12, and changed what mode to start in and where to start from, but no luck. If anyone knows what I should do next, please let me know. I now know about password reset on USB, and I will do this if I can get it to work. PLEASE HELP! -- jpaynte

Hello, Is there any way to password protect the internet browser, so that users without the password knowledge cannot access the internet at all? I changed my bios so my computer now starts up in safe mode, so I would have time to fix it and recover to the last update. now I can't get it out of safe mode. Hi, i am using windows vista business in my sony vaio laptop. nd i made some of my files encrypted during normal use with the help of fingerprint sensor without providing the additional password , only swiping the finger on sensor could unlock those files but it can not be unlocked by a password bcoz i didnt provide it at the time of encryption. nd then recently i formatted my windows vista without decrypting those locked files and now i have installed new copy of windows vista on my laptop , but i m unable to unlock the encrypted files . cud anyone pls help me to know the solution for decrypting the files again. pls mail me the solution. i seriously need your help pls..... nd i lost all the keys nd certificates of previous windows vista nd there is no backup of any key or certificate.

I have been trying to fix a friend's computer (vitus, most likely). I've had to use the recovery console a number of times and each time I just hit enter when it asked for the administrator password. Now all of a sudden it says that the password is invalid. What on earth happened? I have no idea how to know that password. Help?? Thanks
5.Win2k Suddenly Has Admin Password reset to blank
We have HW & SW Firewalls, latest Win2k & McAfee patches & Virus DBs running. Local WS noticed that server directories suddenly were not accessible to remote Admin user. Reboot server and found all admin domain passwords were somehow reset to blank. Have we been hacked? The TCP HW & SW firewall logs do not show any unusual activity. Virus scans do not reveal any unusual activity. Physical premises security limits physical access to WS's so there is no possibility of surreptitious use of any WS. Seems that Win2k at some point in the last 4 hours just reset the primary server/domain admin PW to blank. Has anyone seen this before? SMC
