whats the deal with the disk defragmenter? i can tell how much of the disk it has defragmented and stuff. what the heck did microsoft do to it? the way they made it now, you can't even tell which drive its working on unless you open up the drive properties and tell it to work on that particular disk. i'm running a dualboot of xp and vista. know which drive is working on and stuff would be nice.
  • 2. Backup Won't Allow Multiple DVDs
I'm trying to use Vista Home Premium backup for the 1st time. It appears to be working, but when it needs to go to the second DVD to continue the backup, the drawer is locked and I can't insert another blank disc. The only way I've been able to continue is to go to Windows Explorer and close the session on the current disc. Is this a known bug? Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas? Thanks to all.
  • 3. Movie Maker preview screen not working
Hi All, My preview screen has stopped showing previews of clips or movie itself. I can't drag and drop, play doesn't effect it and play from the drop down menu won't work either. Everything else works fine and has worked for the last 50 hrs I've been working on this project. Help!!!
  • 4. Windows updates error #80070008B
Just installed Windows Vista Home Premium. Had to register the key by calling Microsoft. My problem is that I cannot get any updates to install. All of the updates from the very first update has failed. I have tried downloading them myself but they still fail. I know that there was a way to reset windows updates in windows XP but is there a way to reset windows updates in Vista? All help would be greatly appreciated.
  • 5. Cannot Shutdown-Get Blue Screen
When I try and shut down my computer, it just sits there for at least 10 minutes on "shutting down..." then after about 10 minutes it gives me a blue screen of death and shuts off and restarts. I have also had these blue screens of death in the middle of using windows. I dont know what triggers them. I hope someone may have an idea. When it crashed while my computer was on I saw BAD_POOL_HEADER. When it crashes when I turn it off it says something about DRIVERS, its very fast so I cannot get the whole message easily. Thanks for any advice anyone has.

1.8 GHz Core Duo w/ 3 GB RAM.

Any prog that uses a large amount of memory (BreezeBrowser, Photoshop, Nero,
etc.) will open, but............

Then the screen goes to transparent and says "....(NOT RESPONDING)" at the
top. If I wait it out, it will usually settle down and load. This may
happen again during using the program depending on what I am doing.

What the heck is going on? These are programs that were A- FAST and
B-STABLE under XP.

What version of these programs are you using? All of the programs you named
have released new versions with support for Vista's new security features.

The very latest available. PS just came out with one 5 days ago.

It seems VISTA should be doing some service packs and major updates.

But, that doesn't solve the problem now?

Vista Basic x32 sp2.

I formatted my hd today and installed Vista Basic.
All went well but I'm unable to drag folders to other folders in All
Programs|Start Menu.
(I was able to do this previously.)
I'm able to drag and drop shortcuts ok. But, when I drag a folder to an open

Any ideas??
