Hello Experts, When I click on Start>Programs and point to StartUp, I see 5 to 6 program shortcuts there. I think these programs are in StartUp folder. Am I right? What is the purpose and importance of programs appearing in Start>Programs>StartUp? I think one of these programs is causing the computer to work slow. How can I disable it? Thank you, ----------------------------------- Allah says to Mankind: "Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?"

Do you have more than one user profile on the computer? You may not be logged into the profile on which Clip Gallery is installed. Microsoft Clip gallery usually comes with Microsoft Office programs (such as Word), and with the Works Suite. ....glen Glen Ventura, MS MVP W95/98 Systems "Elizabeth" < XXXX@XXXXX.COM > wrote in message news:01a501c35de0$9c52dec0$ XXXX@XXXXX.COM ... > When I try to open Microsoft Clip Gallery, I get a message > that says that Windows Installer failed to install the > program associated with this file and cotanct the system > administrator. homepage problems

Postby Adrian » Tue, 20 Apr 2004 03:12:41 GMT

Everytime I connect to the internet, my homepage always
ends up being a search engine titled "about:blank." This
happens even after I run my virus protection, ad-aware,
spybot, and shredder. I also go to tools and reset my
homepage, but with no luck.

use hijackthis to remove that search engine from the registry and assign
your own homepage:

Check and make sure your internet is hooked up and
connected, then open internet Explorer and go to Tools,
then click Internet Options. Click on the General tab and
you can change your homepage destination to where ever you
want it to go.

Also as a note, you should only have ONE virus protection
on your computer. If you have more than one, they will
counter-act on each other and it'll end up not protecting
your computer properly. And You should only have one kind
of POP UP Blocker.
Hope that helps
