  • 2. Proliant 6400R and PCI Hot Plug
All I want to do is verify that a new PCI card that we have developed works with PCI Hot Plug. However, my company has never had a system to test this on. So they did the cheap thing and bought some old server (a Compaq Proliant 6400R, 500 MHz Zeon, 256 MB mem). Sure enough, this has PCI Hot Plug slots, but it's the devil to get this working. First I installed Windows 2000 Advanced Server, but had no success in accessing the Hot Plug hardware. Then I installed Server 2003 and saw in DeviceManager that the Compaq Hot Plug Controllers were both recognized by the OS and had a standard in-the-box driver (CPQPHP.SYS) controlling them. However, I cannot figure out how to make this work. When I open up "Safely Remove Hardware" (via control.exe hotplug.dll), it shows me an empty list. From my understanding, any PnP compliant PCI card should be hot-pluggable. I have a RealTek NIC and a Compaq NIC (I think it is a 169849-001) in the slots, but cannot remove them. I've also tried pushing the Hot Plug buttons above the slots, but nothing happens. This tells me that either I need to upgrade the mother board FW or the MS CPQPHP.SYS driver does not work for the 6400R. Any suggestions? ((&-<
  • 3. cd rom non existent
i was recently defragmenting my drive and somewhere along the line something went wrong, so i restarted my computer and my hardware drivers for cd/dvd rom and monitor were gone. i tried using the repair function on the xp disk, that did nothing. i then tried using my old 98 startup disk cause i knew that it had drivers on it. that worked by installing the drivers trhough dos in starup, but when i reset it will not recognise them. i'm really getting frustrated cause when the computer starts up i can see the computer sauing that they are there but i can't use it when i'm in windows
  • 4. What is the write NDIS mini-port model for me?
I have to develop a miniport driver for a DOCSIS P.C. card (PCI card). I don know if to develop it as CoNdis mini-port and a connection manger or as simple Ethernet miniport with out any connection manger? Will I have any benefit from connection oriented architecture? Thanks.

3.Can't install Scanner LG 600P-EPP, UI3RD_32.dll missing

Dear All
An installation problem
My System: Toshiba laptop, satellite 1905-277,
Windows XP Home Edition

I tried to install the LG 600P-EPP flatbed scanner.
Installation consists of three programs namely:
Xerox TextBridge
MGI Photo Suite
Driver TWAIN
I choose to install all.
At the end it gives the following error message:
windows name: TBridge.exe error
Can't find UI3RD_32.dll

I searched the installation CD for the said file but couldn't find.
What should I do to install it.
Also I thought TWAIN is a brand name but seams that it is a general
technical word and has something to do with Scanners. Would be happy if you
could guide me to find out the meaning as well.

Very Sincerely Yours
