  • 1. Icon bit depth when connected remotely
I'm connecting to my remote system at 15-bit color. The icon bit depth looks to be either 16 or 256 colors, not the high resolution. If I re-connect using the administrator account, the icons look fine. But when I connect as myself, they're at the lower bit depth. Images are just fine (like wallpaper), they are displaying at the full resolution. How can I fix this? Is there a registry entry that controls this setting I can change? Please help, it's really annoying and I've seen this before on other systems. Thanks.

Dear All, i am still new to the Citrix & Terminal Service. Here is in My Company we deployed already Citrix - Last version - . But i heard something like that:- With Using Citrix i can restrict access just to applications user needs to access, while in Terminal service the user gets the Entire desktop and its diffcult to lockdown the desktop for them. also, Bandwidth control in Citrix is better than Terminal services. So, here is my question, i want to know from where i can get all the deffrent between Citrix and terminal service ? for example, i want to know the things which i can do in Citrix , or what are the features that Citrix Provide to me , and i cant find these Features By using Terminal service ? Can any one guide me to PDF file or small Comparsion between them. if you want to send an e-amil to me, please send your pdf to ( boma_15 @ hotmail.com ) . many thanks for you .

Hello, I have a Linksys router running Sveasoft's Alchemy V3 and PPTP enabled. This router is connected to my Windows LAN at home. With my Windows XP laptop I have been able to connect to my home LAN from work, I have been authenticated and received an IP, I can ping machines on the remote LAN, and I can even get remote machines to display network shares if I use their IP address in Windows Explorer address bar, BUT when I double click a remote share the laptop freezes up. e.g. \\192.168.2.156\Share\prg. I'm a bit at a loss to figure this out. I have not forwarded any ports since the router is managing the PPTP. I can map a drive with net use and the IP address net use g: \\192.168.2.156\share. Paris

Hi,

you cannot open mmc, but you can open mmc on your local pc and open remote
snap-in (Computer Management or other)

Start -> Run -> mmc

File -> Add-Remove Snap-In - click "Add" and choose whatever you want. Of
course, you must have administrator username/password on remote pc

2.after SP2 download pc has 2 network/2 local networks running

Hello, I recently downloaded sp2 via auto-update. Using
sp1I had 1 local network service and 1 network service
running under Task Mngr.. I now have 2 local and 2
network services running. 1 local service is the alg.exe
and the other 3 are all svchost.exe making a total of 5
svchost running. The 2 svchost are running at 3-4k. Also,
I started recieving mailer daemons from unknown sources,
ie: meaning emails i have not sent being returned. Some
with file attatchments and some without. The nature of
the emails, most of them are titled FTP Server. I
contacted Microsoft Tech Support for SP2 and was referred
to the Research techs who was going to contact me within
24-72hrs. It has been past that time and still no word. I
am running updated Nortons, Win Xp Firewall and TD3
scanner, along with Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D.I have Xp
Home.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

4.W98 clients run fast-XP clients run slow!

Our WIN98 workstations, running the same applications as
our WINXP workstations, run the apps much faster!
Includes DBase programs, Excel & Word. Our server has
Windows 2003 Server, Enterprise edition. Is there a
registry setting we can change to speed up the XP stations?

Example: On XP workstation, save an Excel file to server
takes several seconds, save it locally takes an instant.
On the WIN98 station, the same file saves instantly to
server.

5.Thin Client running WinXPe needs only one local drive mapped

We have thin clients running WinXPe and the terminal server is Win2k3.
We enable local resources in the RDP client and all local drives show up in
windows explorer.
We would like only one of these drives to show up.
It seems like all or nothing.
We would like to lock it down a bit more.
How do we accomplish this?
Have tried login script 'net use \\tsclient\c /delete' but doesn't work
properly.
Any ideas? Reg hacks?
TIA, Graham
