Server 2000 / 2003

Hi All,
I am in possession of a hp server which has raid 5 capability. What i woul
like to know is how to build this from scratch. Does either windows 2000 /
2003 recognise that there are 5 disks in the server and can you just boot
with the cd in, or do you need to configure the raid 5 before installing the
server application.
Any kind of details would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards.

Most servers have a "start up" disk which you use to configure the raid card
and hard drives before installation of the operating system.
Thankfully, HP/COMPAQ allow you to download this so you can burn it onto a
cd for initial booting.
Checkout the technical help area for servers on the hp/compaq site, and
enter the information (server number, o/s etc) pertaining to your box.
Good luck,
Brad

You are a domain admin for the windows 2000 domain 123.abc-def.edu
You have decided to create a new domain in order to avoid bringing any
problems from the original 2000 domain to the new 2003 domain.
The new 2003 domain will be called 456.abc-def.edu
However you need to migrate all of the Active Directory OBJECTS from
the 123 domain to the 456 domain.
How do you accomplish this?

In the 123 domain users in the "Onebody" group have their "my
documents" folder redirected by group policy to a server named:
File.123.abc-def.edu, the path being \\File\user$\%username%, meaning
that once migration occurs and the "Onebody" group is migrated to the
new domain and the "File" server is then migrated to the new domain,
The "Onebody" group members should still retain their permissions to
the "My Documents" folders stored in the path \\File\users$\%username%
What steps must I take in order to Migrate the Onebody Group to the
new domain and then the "file" server to the new domain retaining
their permissions?
Note that the parent domain does not change and is still abc-def.edu

4.Is ntconfig.pol and "..\Netlogon\Default user" applied to Windows server 2000/2003
Hi.
I have implemented many Windows Server 2003 Terminal Servers in an Windows 2003 AD running in Interim mode with NT 4.0 BDC.
The netlogon share contains a "Default User" directory and a NTConfig.Pol file which is used for configuring the Windows NT 4 Workstations in the Domain.
I dont want the "Default user" and the NTconfig.pol to affect my Windows Server 2003 Terminal Servers. Are there any settings to make the Windows 2003 servers ignore these old configs???
I have GPOs in my active directory, but I dont want the ntconfig.pol and the ntuser.dat in the "default user" to Tatoo settings for the windows 2003 servers.

5.Successful migration / upgradefrom SBS2000 to Server 2000 / 2003 P
Has anyone successfully moved from SBS2000 to Server and Exchange server? How
did you do it?
Here are some things that don't appear to work:
Install second exchange 2000 server into the SBS2000 site. (Exchange IS and
MTA services fail to start.)
Install an Exchange 2003 server into the SBS2000 site. (errors extending
schema)
Is there any other way to skin this cat? I am considering exporting mail to
PSTs and seizing FSMO roles on an additional domain controller.
I don't mind buying server licenses and Exchange Cals; I don't want to spend
4000+ on the SBS transition pack unless I have to.
Thanks!
