  • 2. AFPDS spooled files
I am trying to duplicate AFPDS spooled files and have now been partly successful in re-aligning the barcode and text before re-spooling the files. However I also need to use overlays to print the background image and logo etc on the invoice before re-spooling the files. The format of the overlay also needs be changed and I am trying to create new overlays. Also I need to include the new overlays for faxed output as well as for spooled files, basically I want to write a program to constantly poll the output queues, read spooled output, re-align and re-spool them and direct them to fax/printer. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
  • 3. AS400 Sort / FMTDTA - How to either Pack or Unpack output data - FDC specs
I have a few flat S36 files that need to be sorted and the data has mixed pack and unpacked numeric field in each file. I can't find a way to output those fields in either packed or unpacked format without creating a RPG program. I would like to do this using SORT or FMTDTA in the SORTR type, is there a way to do this without writing a program? I need to output file fields to be consistent, either all packed or all unpacked, to feed it to an existing program. Chuck

qsh: 001-0019 Error found searching for command CD.

We bought Iseries 800 Model last week. We are running V5R2.

When I try to run CD /QDLS in QShell I get following message:
qsh: 001-0019 Error found searching for command CD.

FIND, LS works. What am I missing here?

lower case "cd" rather than "CD" -- it's case sensitive.

2.using QSH and the grep command to search for sensitive data strings

Hello,

I've heard good things about using grep to search for strings across
files in the filesystem; I've also seen where you could use this on
physical files and members; however, when I tried to get this to work,
using:

grep 'XXXX$' /QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/USRLST.FILE/*

I got the following message

grep: 001-0023 Error found opening file /QSYS.LIB/QGPL.LIB/
USRLST.FILE/USRLST.MBR. Operation not supported.

I've seen a few things on google showing people have been successful
doing this, so I'm at a loss as to why it doesn't work for me...is
there something i'm missing? Not really a lot of documentation to go
on, could anybody offer some assistence to get this to work correctly?

Thanks,

Chris

5.QSH question about killing commands that read from standard input (Keyboard)

In Unix you just stopped these things with a Ctrl-D or whatever you
had set for your EOF character. So if you're in QSH and you typed a
command in wrong and it wants to read from the keyboard, how do you
break out without having to F3 out of qsh?
