  • 1. Two AS/400s available in NYC
Hello, My company is getting rid of two rather sizable AS/400s of, I believe, mid to late 90s vintage. I currently don't have much more information beyond that one is about the size of a refrigerator and one is about half of that size. Right now they are in an office in Brooklyn, NY. If anyone is interested in them, I can try to get more details and we can try to coordinate pickup or shipping. Thanks, David XXXX@XXXXX.COM
  • 2. Deduce the telnet client OS version with Iseries API
Hi Does any one know if the TN5250 (telnet) protocol captures, somehow, the client OS version so that it would be possible for the CL programmer to determine if the client is running whatever version of Linux, or whatever version of windows? so he may take aproriate actions in function of the client nature? I am researching about something simmilar to http protocol whose servers are capable to determine client browser and OS version. Are there some APIs simmilar to QDCRDEVD that may retrive client IP and some client information ? What we need retrive is the client Operating system name and version (perhaps too much for tn5250 protocol) Thanks in advance.
  • 3. Transfer questions (between 2 machines) ?
Hello. I have received a second machine with the same release as mine(V4R5). I wont to use this machine as backup Machine(which is in different location) This machine has only the operating system (no userprofile,user-libs, etc) 1. Is there a direct/simple way to transfer the Libs to another machine ? (without to create first a savf, put the libs inside and then transfer with ftp the savf to another machine and then restore all objects). This "refreshing" prodecure of the libs, will take affect every day in the night to keep the Libs of the second machine up-to-date with the PROD machine. 2. How about the obj-authorities are they also transfered with the libs/objects to the seconde machine? 3. Can i "transfer" the userprofiles/Jobdescriptions ONCE to another machine or must these recreated again? 4. How about the printers and outq, must these recreate again? PS: The hardware and also the TAPE driver are different on both machines.. Thanks.
  • 4. missing the forest for the trees
I am thinking there should be a relatively easy way to do this but I'm not sure what it would be. I have two fields in an iseries access emulation session I want to copy and paste into a PC application. Is there an easier way to do that than to do "edit/copy" and "edit/paste"? I am thinking perhaps I could record a keyboard macro to do the copy of the fields, but pasting them to the right place is another matter... Just wondered if anyone had invented this wheel already. thanks, ga XXXX@XXXXX.COM

ToolBox JDBC driver question

Postby atu0830 » Fri, 14 May 2004 16:56:20 GMT

WAS use ToolBox JDBC driver connect a local as/400 java application to a
remote as/400 (V5R2) of own a IASP(independent auxiliary storage pool ). if
the remote database name is "test", the WAS can start this instance . But
when the remote database name is "test.cn.ibm.com" , WAS can't start this
instance. No IASP at the remote as/400, the instance always successfully
start.
RDB entry of the local as/400,
  Relational Database Remote Location
 test test.cn.ibm.com

I can connect this remote as/400 by run STRSQL command on the local as400.
And create a test java program of use ToolBox JDBC connect this remote
database by use "test" or "test.cn.ibm.com" ,both of them are successfully .
So I guess the WAS can't get the right remote database name of as/400 of
own a IASP by ToolBox JDBC driver.
