    I'm trying to assess what's going on in the .net mobile world as I have been doing a lot of asp.net development work. This appears to be the only forum and it looks pretty dusty here with only one or two messages a day. Is this indicative of the activity with mobile? Thanks, T

    I'm new to mobile development, question: I have a client with a Java App on a Nextel phone that stores some data locally then sends when the user gets a connection. He developed it in Java. Is there any .NET tools I can use to do the same app? I'm a ASP.NET/VB.NET developer. Ideas? The app communicates back (web service) to a web server that has Sql Server 2k. Thanx.

ASP.NET Mobile Control Implementation of WML tag <prev>

Postby domtam » Wed, 10 Nov 2004 06:32:14 GMT

I'm implementing an ASP.NET Mobile Control application. It consists of
multiple pages / forms. In every page, I'd like to have link that let
user navigate back to the previous page. Of course, I could use
<mobile:Link> and point its NavigateURL attribute to the previous
page. However, I need to determine "the previous page" for each page.
This is particularly inconvenient (even though it's feasible) if
multiple pages have link to the same page.

In WML, there is a <prev> tag. What it does is to navigate back the
previous URL on the history stack. This is exactly what I want, but I
don't want to embed WML directly in the page because the page may be
rendered to languages other than WML.

Is there any way to implement the <prev> behaviour using native
ASP.NET mobile control?

If I have to use <mobile:Link> and set NavigateUrl correspondingly
page by page, I have another question. Can I set NavigateUrl to a
specific form of a specific page? For example,
NavigateUrl="Page3.aspx#Form4". It doesn't seem to work for me.... Any
idea?

Thanks
Dom

2.Break before <form> tag ASP.NET

Hi all,
How do I get rid of a break (an empty row) before <form> tag in ASP.NET?
I set the "topmargin=0" inside the <body> tag. When I look at the page on a
regular IE, the space is gone, but when I look at it in PocketPC IE, the
space is still there.
I did CTRL+ refresh and reboot few times so that should not be the problem.

Any ideas?

3.ASP.net and <compiler> tag

I need some help with asp.net...
I have a problem with web.config
file....
I would like to bind extensions to
a compiler (i saw some websites
using extensions like .pyra and such),
i tried to use <compiler> tag
like this:

<compiler language="VB;VBScript"
extension=".my"
type="Microsoft.VB. VBCodeProvider,System" />

but i allways get an error msg
that assembly or namespace "System"
could not be found...
Where am i mistaking?

4.problem with <body> tag asp.net

wondered if anyone could help me - i'm trying to control the value of an
attribute of the BODY tag on a page. So i've got:

<html>
<body test="colin">
<form ......
** content **
</form>
</body>
</html>

I want to affect the value of the 'test' attribute from the code-behind
file.

I've tried setting up the body tag as a server control (e.g. <body id="fred"
runat="server" test="colin">) and adding in a protected var in the
codebehind like this:
protected System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlGenericControl mainbody;

.. but it throws an exception somewhere deep down in the .net libraries
before it runs any of my code. Anyone got any ideas about how I could do
this?
