    Hi, I'm trying to write a simple mobile search site that has thumbnails in the search results. I've tried building the search results using several different mobile controls, but I haven't had any success so far. The <mobile:Label> uses html codes for all of the special characters, so my image tags get printed out instead of showing the image. The <mobile:TextView> just ignores image tags. I've tried a couple other, but basically nothings worked for me thus far. Could anyone help me out here? I just need a way to build the search results html so that the image tags (and others) get recognized and rendered correctly. Thanks, Dustin
  • 3. mobile:list ItemsPerPage does not work??
    Hi - I have a mobile list and would like to switch on paging. I have set ItemsPerPage = 5 but still get all the results in one page. Do I need to set something else to activate paging? My code is: <mobile:Form id="Form2" runat="server"> <mobile:List id="List1" runat="server" ItemsPerPage="5"> <DeviceSpecific> <Choice> <ItemTemplate> <asp:Table> <Mobile:Image id="Image1" runat="server" </Mobile:Image> </asp:Table> </ItemTemplate> </Choice> </DeviceSpecific> </mobile:List> </mobile:Form>

    I'm trying to focus a control on a Mobile web page. I have tried using Page.SetFocus() and txtScan.Focus() but I keep geting the following error: A form tag with runat=server must exist on the Page to use SetFocus() or the Focus property. Here is my source code: <mobile:Form id="Form1" runat="server"> <mobile:TextBox ID="txtScan" Runat="server"> </mobile:TextBox> </mobile:Form>

are you using the regular object list or are you implementing your own
template?

2.Dynamic Controls created by Dynamic Controls

Hello,

For a registration page I need to constantly create controls
on-the-fly. The input for one control determines the contents of the
next (mostly DropDownLists) control. This is a pretty common practice I
would think.

But, ASP.NET 2.0 will not let me do it. I can dynamically create a
control and read it's PostBack values in the (next) Page_PreLoad event.
But, for a subsequent control to be created based on the value of the
previous control I have to use the next stage, Page_Load. However, for
a control created so late in the PageCycle, ViewState is not restored.

I tried many, many different ways to try and solve this, but none
succeeded. The problem is the PageCycle. It Cycles only once, where I
would need several Cycles for on PageLoad.

Any help/workaround would be greatly appreciated.

3.placement of dynamic control depends on VALUE of dynamic control

A dynamic control (A dropdown) is created in PageLoad, but the value of
the dynamic control dictates where it's added (such as which cell in a
table) on a postback.

Seems like a catch-22. I need to retrieve the value of it, before it's
created... how do I do this?

4.Repeater, Panel, dynamic user control - can't retrieve dynamic controls in code behind

I cut down the code to make this half way understandable... I have
read Data Grid girls caution about over use of dynamic controls. I
truly believe what I am doing requires dynamically inserted user
controls.

Worse I'm trying to add dynamic user controls from within a repeater
loop (looping through attributes)... I bind to a function in the code
behind and pass in the attribute.

<asp:repeater id="rAttributes" Runat="server">
        <ItemTemplate>
	     <asp:Panel id="attPanel" runat="server"></asp:Panel>
	     <%# InsertAttributeControl(Container)%>
	</ItemTemplate>
</asp:repeater>

In the code behind I determine what type of attribute I'm dealing with
(polymorphism) and create the appropriate control to render it. I
create the control and insert it into a panel as google groups has
suggested...

// Load the UserControl.
myLB theControl = (myLB)LoadControl("../Controls/myListBox.ascx");

if (theControl != null)
{
	theControl.ID = "attControl";
	theControl.DataSource = theEnumAtt.Enums;
	theControl.DataTextField = "EnumName";
	theControl.DataValueField = "EnumID";
	theControl.DataBind();

	// Add control to placeholder
	attPanel.Controls.Add(theControl);
}

the user updates the form and submits to a wired event..... I spin
through the repeater and get the panel (attPanel), but when I check
the attPanel.HasControls() and it returns false. It seems the dynamic
controls have disappeared.

foreach (RepeaterItem ri in rAttributes.Items)
{
	// get controls
	Panel attPanel = ((Panel)ri.FindControl("attPanel"));
	myLB theAttEnum = ((myLB)attPanel.FindControl("attControl"));

}

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Don

5.Supplying files for donwload to mobile devices using asp.net mobile controls

Hello,

I'm relatively new to this dotnet stuff and have been tasked with
investigating how all the mobile controls work.

I've done a nice demo site which can display basic words and images but
now I am trying to find out how I can add files (e.g. ringtones and
screensavers) that people coming to our site can download to there
phones

As an example if I have an image and want users to be able to download
it as a screensaver, how do I go about this. I'm hoping it's quite easy
as I know there are lots of sites out there which already do it but I
haven't been able to find any source code examples for it.

If anyone has done this before or can point me to some good websites
with examples it will be much appreciated.

Thankyou

Ian
