  • 1. migrating aspx forms app to mobile forms
I've got a small application using asxp forms controls like gridview, label etc. It is formated to display on a 320x240 display so it looks fine on a pocket pc. I recently discovered issues with long hidden fields used by the viewstate and the eventvalidation. Currently I changed the viewstate to store in the session, and turned of the eventvalidation to avoid the long hidden fields. Will my solution cause other issues? I'm also concidering moving to mobile forms, but I don't see any gridview equilavents. It doesn't seem you can even do some of the rudamentary html tags like div, span, etc. Is it possibly to do this stuff with mobile forms or should I stick with the standard aspx forms and just put viewstate in the session?

  • 4. how to override BrowserCapabilitiesFactory?
Hi. I am trying to make a mobile web app, with 2.0. and I know that I can get the device browser info (HttpBrowserCapabilities/browserCaps) via BrowserCapabilitiesFactor. if I got it right BrowserCapabilitiesFactory gets the browser info from .broswer files that are complied into GAC. my problem is the .broswer files doesn't contains the latest mobile phones and I found that WURFL has a more complete mobile device defintion list. so my question is is it possible to overload or write any module/method to import other typ of browser definition files than .broswer files? regards Steve

Hi all,

I have a mobile page that uses the image control to to render a bmp image.
Its tested fine under the openwave emulator but doesnt seem to work on my
phone. I know the phone (UP.Browser/4.1.26m.737) can display bmp images
because it transmits that in its accept headers. What is going wrong?

1.Problems with Symbol/Motorola SMDK 1.7 .Net

I know that this is not a symbol forum, but the support from Symbol is not
soooo good :-(. I also know that some developers here are working with
Symbol SMDK.

I'm working on an application for inventory which must run on a
Motorola(Symbol) MC1000. For development VS20008, CF2.0 and Symbol SMDK
V1.7.Net are used.

During programming and testing some question came up:

1. I'm using the Barcode design control. This control has a property called
"EnableScanner". While working with this control I detected that this
control misbehaves when it is switched to "true" more than once. This is a
not acceptable behaviour in my opinion! I can switch on LEDs e.g. how often
I wish, and the LEDs stay on and behave correct, what the barcode control
doesn't do! This issue should be solved.

2. In my application there are textboxes for entering EAN articlenumbers
(whith only EAN/UPC allowed), quantities (with no scanning allowed) and
storage locations (with only I2OF5 enabled). I thought I set "EnableScanner"
to false in the quantity field and that works. I worked, but in tests I
detected that it takes about 500ms to enable/disable the scanner. This is
much too long. So I took a look in the DLLs and found out that the control
is completly disposed recreated on disabling/enabling. That's not really
what I wanted!?

So how can I fast (runtime, not programming) enable/disable the scanner so
that the users can't scan in the quantity field?

3. Why isn't there a property "Enabled" which all other controls have and
that property fast eanbles and disables the scanner? See question 2...

4. For preventing the users switching to the alphamode on the MC1000
(handylike keyboard) I'm using the Symbol.Keyboard.KeyPad. This works fine
so far. But when my application is killed or crashes the event seems to be
active. This leads to a problem when my application is started again. In
creating the keypad I get an exception when I'm instantiating the keypad
with new keypad(). How can I solve this problem?

Best regards

2.Error 500 using Motorola V600

I'm testing an mobile app using some cell phones.
It works fine with some models, but it sends me 'Error
500 - Internal Error' using Motorola V600.
I got this error before in other cell phones because I
didn't apply pagination in my mobile web form, but a get
the same error using V600 with pagination.

Any idea?

3.Windows Mobile 5 "Motorola Q" changing to custom color scheme

I am writing an app to change color schemes on a new Motorola Q using
Windows Mobile 5. When I attempt to overwrite one of the existing color
scheme XML files I get an access is denied error message. When I simply
create a custom XML file it doesn't show up in the color scheme combo box.
Is there another file that keeps a list of the avaialble color schemes? Whay
can't I overwrite the XML files?

5.Symbol/Motorola Developer Community

I've been flailing away writing for Symbol/Motorola Pocket PC devices for
almost 8 years now. I've often wished there was a community of developers
that could share methods and utilities and ideas of architecting for these

I know there are a bunch of you out there.

I write in VB.NET in VS2008 using CF2 due to Zebra SDK 1.7 requirements,
Symbol SDK 1.6, 3.5 Compact Edition
and deploy to MC70's and use Zebra 220 Plus printers (TCP, BT, and Wired)

Anyone else out there and want to network?
