  • 1. Web calendar control of HebrewCalendar displayed in English - how?
    I want to present a web calendar that is based on the Hebrew calendar but presented in English (the logic of the calendar should be the Hebrew calendar, but the name of the months and days should be transliterated in English instead of spelling them in Hebrew - e.g. Tishrei 1, Tishrei 2, Cheshvan 1, Cheshvan 2). I am targeting Jewish customers that do not speak Hebrew, but are using the Hebrew calendar for holidays, etc. Any help or references will be very appreciated as I am looking for this solution for a long time. Thanks in advance!
  • 2. Pitfalls of creating a base class for a webpage including UI contr
    Hi, I have inherited an application that contains 7 different but similar forms (about 15 questions are the same on all forms) that a user can fill out. Each page is a separate webform containing duplicate UI (for the same questions) and the code to process these questions is duplicated on all of the pages. I'd obviously like to reduce the code duplication and i have come up with three options. 1) Create a composit control for each question which would contain the UI and code (validation, saving to object before DB, etc) for itself. 2) Create a base code behind page containing all the duplicate stuff... but this seems like a pain because I'd need to have the UI controls declared in the base class. However, that would pose a problem in the Design tab of the IDE because the IDE would try to insert the controls into the super class which would become a conflict with the base class. I like this method best, but the designer problem I mentioned would have to be corrected... any ideas on that? 3) Create a utility class that would contain all the code to handle the UI controls, but then I'd have to pass references to everything into the utility class because the Page, Session, and all the controls would be out of scope. Well, those are the option. I like 2 the best but that designer problem would have to be fixed, or a workaround would have to be available. Thanks

page view for datalist

Is there a way to break datalist into a page view?
Thank you!

1.Setting up a datalist control - Item_DataBound for a datalist in a datalist

I have a multi-level datalist setup:
DataList1
    DataList2
        MyGrid

I have columns explicitly defined for the grid in the html.
Sometimes, On the initial Load() of the Page, I want to add extra columns to
the datagrid - for all records.

I tried getting a reference to the datagrid like this:
foreach(Control ctrl in this.DataList1.Controls)
{
    if (ctrl.ID == "DataList2")
    {
        DataList2 = (DataList) ctrl;
        break;
    }
}

DataGrid MyGrid;

foreach(Control ctrl in dlstClasses.Controls)
{
    if (ctrl.ID == "MyGrid")
    {
        MyGrid= (DataGrid) ctrl;
        break;
    }
}

But the inner DataList2 isn't found in the controls set of DataList1, and so
MyGrid isn't found inside DataList2, of course.

So how do I make those changes to the datagrid? Help?

2.Need two views for a datalist

 I have a datalist that displays catalog items on the page 4 in a row
using the RepeatColumns="4" and RepeatDirection="Horizontal" the page
displays two rows of data when first viewed and if there is more then 8
products to display will create page numbers at the top of the page for
each subsiquent page of 8. The customer has asked to place an image in
the area occupied by the first two columns in the first row, but only
on the first page. The image information is not stored in the database
with the product information. I need to alter the template for the
first page only in some way to show this new layout and i'm stuck. Any
help or direction would be appreciated. Is this even possible?

3.view state in previous page using cross page postback

Is there a way to retrieve values from the viewstate in the previouspage
using cross page postback?

Thanks!

4.Page properties reporting incorrect size when viewing an ASPX page

It's more annoying than anything else.

If I browse to my ASPX page in IE (6.0.2800.1106), it loads fine. The
page is actually a report (about 41K in size).

Yet, if I select File, Properties, the size that IE reports is 7176
bytes. If I want to see how big of a download when I'm developing, I
have to view source, then save it to a file on the hard drive and look
at the size that way.

Does anyone experience this bug? It seems to happen only with ASPX
pages, not ASP or HTML. It doesn't make any sense, since to the
client, there is no difference between the three.

5.Datagrid like paging in a datalist?

I've got a datalist that is doing multiple column layout. The page looks
like:

             Record A                 Record B
             Record C                 Record D
             Record E                 Record F
             Record G                 Record H
  .....

It works great except now I need to add paging to it (limiting 4 records on
a page.) Can I do this?

TIA

Jeffrey.
