Hi, I'm new at MCMS technology. I have installed SP1a and it is working fine now. I read some article about CMS. Now I'm gonna start to develop sample sites with C#. Is there any good step by step detailed tutorial for CMS developing with C# that you can recommend? Thanks in advance...
  • 2. Application Center 2000 for CMS 2002 deployments.
Hi all, I have seen a lot of posts on the fact that App Ctr is a recommended way to deploy CMS applications. I am reading thru the white paper and am having difficulty understanding some fundamental concepts: Our architecture - WS - DB (Authoring) / \ / \ WS - DB (Staging) WS1 WS2 - DB (Production) In addition we have a server set aside for Application Center (not sure if we need this). Our intent is to migrate code/content from (authoring to Production) and (authoring to staging) servers respectively. My basic questions: 1) Where does the application center software need to be installed? The document says install on all the servers. Does it mean the web servers and database servers or just the web or database? 2) Where all does the MCMSDeploy Utility need to be installed? The document also mentions using the Application Center from staging to Production. I am assuming that is not a requirement. Can i do it from authoring to staging and from authoring to production? Thanks very much - laks..
  • 3. CMS Custom controls and IE/Acrobat
We have a CMS website with a custom control built to handle document downloads. When a user clicks on the document link they are presented with a dialogue which gives them the option to open the file, save it to disk or cancel. Some users are having problems with opening pdf files from this dialogue. They get an error stating that the file cannot be found. If they then choose the save option there is no problem, the file will downloaded. This problem occurs with IE but works ok in Firefox. Does anyone have any experience of similar problems ? Is the cause likely to be CMS, the custom control or IE settings? Thanks Ronnie

Change Channel Properties

Postby VG9t » Sat, 15 Jul 2006 20:55:02 GMT

I see where I can change a posting's index property by checking the box 'Web
Robots Can Crawl Links ' and 'Web Robots Can Index This Page' . THis is good.

But sometimes, we might want to eliminate an entire Channel from Web Robots.

In Web Author, I do not see these options for 'Channel'. Is it not
possible at this level? If it is possible, can you please tell me how?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom,

you can find these properties on the property window of the channel in Site
Manager.
If you need it in web author you would need to create a custom dialog.

Cheers,
Stefan

Stefan:

it seems odd, that for Channels, Robots Can Crawl Links ' and 'Web Robots
Can Index This Page' is maintained in Site Manager but the Postings are
maintained in Web Author.

Do you have an example of how I might be able to incorporate Robots Can
Crawl Links ' and 'Web Robots Can Index This Page' for Channels inside the
Web Authoring tool?

Thanks

Tom
