  • 1. copydb script hangs mysteriously
    Hi All I'm getting a weird problem with running a "copy.in" script generated by copydb. The script creates the table, modifies it to hash, and then tries to load the data from the flat file (the copy.out script has already been run) using the following command: copy valid_action_code_acc( action_code= c0tab, account_type= varchar(0)tab, current_indicator= varchar(0)nl, nl= d1) from '/NIHE/software/prawldba/paul/prl087/valid_ac.pra' with minpages = 10 \p\g The end of the printquery seems to be corrupted as well: ------------------------------------------------ Query text: copy valid_action_code_acc( action_code= c0tab, account_type= varchar(0)tab, current_indicator= varchar(0)nl, nl= d1) from '/NIHE/software/prawldba/paul/p rl087/valid_ac.pra' with minpages = 10 Query Send Time: Tue Oct 25 15:26:07 2005 Query text: copy valid_action_code_acc( action_code= c0tab, account_type= varchar(0)tab, current_indicator= varchar(0)nl, nl= d1) from '/NIHE/software/prawldba/paul/p rl087/valid_ac.pra' with minpages = 10 Query Send Time: Tue Oct 25 15:26:07 2005 Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Or what I should do about it? Many thanks Paul (Please copy replies to: XXXX@XXXXX.COM , without the NOSPAM)

    Hi, I'm trying to run an optimizedb against a table with long varchars, and after running for about 10 minutes, it reports there are no rows in the table. The table has 34 million rows. I tried various sampling rates, with and without the -zk (keys only) flag. Anyone ever see this before ? Andre

Hi,
Do we have any JDBC driver available for Ingres 2.5. If yes, can
anybody please post me the sample code for connecting to Ingres
database using this driver.

Thanks
Mohan

Hello,

Yes the JDBC driver is available for Ingres 2.5, and must be installed
and started from server side.

See in the documentation for 2.5 details but for Ingres2006 the URL
look like this : jdbc:ingres://host:port/[dbname|vnode::dbname/
server_class];attr=value

Hope this help,
Jean-Pierre

Hi
We are using the following code to connect:

    private String connectString = "jdbc:edbc://10.118.131.214:117/";
    private String vnode = "LOCAL";
    private String user = "";
    private String password = "";
    private Connection con = null;
    Class.forName("ca.edbc.jdbc.EdbcDriver");
    con = DriverManager.getConnection(connectString + vnode, user,
password);

But this is throwing the error: Exception in thread "main"
java.sql.SQLException: Unable to establish connection
 due to communications error.

Could you please tell what can be the problem?

If you don't have a vnode named LOCAL (see netutil) do not use that
name. I think the confusion come from Visual DBA interface that show
you a "LOCAL" vnode.

Hi,
When I check in netutil I don't observe a vnode named LOCAL. Moreover
it didn't show any vnodes. So, I've tried with vnode="" in the program
but still I am facing the same error. Could you please tell me what
the problem can be?

I've tried with bot II7, II1. But it didn't work. What should I give
for vnode if I don't have any vnode.

Hi,
Now I am using the following code to connect.

Class.forName("ca.edbc.jdbc.EdbcDriver");
con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:edbc://10.118.131.214:II7/
causp");

Database name is also provided in this code.
Still this code is throwing the error:" java.sql.SQLException: Unable
to establish connection due to communications error."

Can anyone please figure out what the problem is?

Thanks
Mohan

May be an obvious question, but do you have a JDBC server running on the
installation you are trying to connect to?

Having said that, with tools on Windows (e.g. Eclipse, DbVisualizer) I
have also had problems trying to connect to Ingres 2.6 on the same
Windows host using the JDBC driver, without having any problems
connecting to a remote server.  If I use a JDBC/ODBC bridge I don't have
any problems either. It could be a Windows firewall problem or other
configuration issue which I haven't taken the time to figure out.

Hi,
We are using the JDBC/ODBC bridge. How to confirm whether the JDBC
server is running or not. We have tried using the command 'show jdbc'
at IINAMU. But this did not display any thing.

Thanks
Mohan
