Has anyone tried running Ingres 2.0 or 2.6 on VMS8.2? We are being asked to upgrade our VMS version from 7.2-1 to (preferably) 8.2, although 7.3-2 may be an acceptable compromise .
  • 2. [Info-ingres] another newbie question: where's the tables?
Hi Jeff, When any user creates a table the table is not automatically accessible to anyone else. This is so even if the database is public. Ergo, your 2nd user cannot see the table in their 'help'. They could learn of its existence by quizzing iitables but that's all they can do. If you want the 2nd user to see the table then the first user must grant permission to allow this. Log in as the first user and execute: grant select on table_name to 2nd_user_name; The second user should then be able to see the table. But they will only be able to select from the table - nothing else. If you wish to grant further options such as insert, update, delete, copy etc you'll be better off RTFMing. Here you go - http://www.**--****.com/ . Updated every 30 minutes. The
"look and feel" needs some work but at least what goes on there is now
visible.

My favourite piece of information is that Branwell Bront brother of
Emily and C{*filter*}te, died standing up leaning against a mantelpiece, in
order to prove it could be done. This is not quite true, in fact. My
absolute favourite piece of information is the fact that young sloths
are so inept that they frequently grab their own arms and legs instead
of tree limbs, and fall out of trees.

And more to the point, those of us who spend very little time chained to
our desks won't miss the occasional treasures that show up on it.

Thanks Grant.

Does anyone know a way of making isql [abf , rbf etc etc. ] fit the
current screen size (for both width and height)

i.e if the terminal emulator is set to 132 wide x 40 rows high fit to
that screen and not remain at 80 x 24

Unfortunately we are still on Ingres 6.4

thanks Allan

The two are complementary, like the post and the telephone.

I'm not a big IRC guy because I like the asychronicity of email, and I
agree with Roy that Ingres at this point is better off with one email
channel. But the immediacy of IRC can be useful in its own right, and
will help the larger community if its denizens make the effort to forward
any useful outcomes to the mailing list.

(We are using Ingres II 2.6/0305 (axp.osf/00) with patch 11137 running on
Compaq Tru64 UNIX V5.1B (Rev. 2650).

Hello,

Since we moved to Ingres patch 11137 on Nov. 8, 2005, we have had errors
like the ones below on one table only. The errors have been with 47
different tids up to this point. Has anyone encountered a problem like this
or have thoughts about it? (The secondaries were rebuilt but that hasn't
stop the errors.)

Thanks.

Bruce

PS Help for the table and secondaries is attached. The problem is on
secondaries bib_itm_i4 and bib_itm_i3. (We'll open an issue with CA/Ingres
Corp. too.)
