Greetings, I just had an upsetting experience with D3/NT running on a Windows 2003 standard server and a version of Veritas backup software. When I installed the backup, it said it wanted to reboot. Wisely I waited until after everyone logged off the system, then I rebooted. What happened after that was that D3 logons hung. You would be prompted for the username and once it was entered and return was pressed, the system went away and never came back. Since Veritas was the only thing that I had changed, I de-installed it - rebooted and D3 started working again. Veritas installed a version of SQL and maybe some other stuff, not sure all, but is some of that stuff what interfered with D3? Has anybody else had this experience? Hi All, I have a UniVerse issue in which one of my accounts is not executing the login MD. I have two other accounts that work fine, but this one goes straight to a TCL prompt. From the TCL prompt you can execute the login MD and it will work fine from there. On all accounts I have a MD with the same name as the account. These MDs get executed automatically, and allow me to create login scripts for each account. All of these accounts are on the same system in which UniVerse is ported to AIX on a RS6000 box. I have verified the .profiles for each as well as all of the file permissions. The accounts were all created using the UniVerse SysAdmin Interface. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If I recall currectly, Pick r83 had some sort of built in mechanism that logged session connect times by user. Stored the stuff in the ACC file maybe? I don't know - it's been a loooong time. Anyway, I'm trying to find this sort of usage data in Advanced Pick. I'm sure if I took a look at all the files and verbs in the 'dm' account I could take a wild ass guess and find it myself if it exists, but I'm too lazy for that - so I just post the question here and hope someone will toss me a clue ;-) Thanks much, iJah

IDS 11.5FC6 on RHEL 5.3 Here's a starange one. When running SQL which interacts with OS to output messages, it's very, very much slower at a new customer site than it is at our own or others. The difference seems to be the AMD processors the customer has (we have Intel) - the OS and IDS versions are identical. Here's a a simple test case. Here's some SQL, which echoes out the message "Hello World" 64 times: !echo "Hello World" !echo "Hello World" !echo "Hello World" !echo "Hello World" ... !echo "Hello World" Run it on the AMD server: informix@db-1<qa1>:ardenta]$ time dbaccess sysmaster < crap5.sql Database selected. Hello World ... Hello World Database closed. real 0m7.776s user 0m0.016s sys 0m0.049s Run it on an Intel server, same IDS version etc: Hello World ... Hello World Database closed. real 0m0.580s user 0m0.005s sys 0m0.037s 12 times as slow on AMD. We noticed it when trunning some data load scripts which outputs thousands of progress messages, and went from 10m at home to 50m on the client's (far superior) hardware. Of course we could just omit the statements, but I am worried that this may be part of a bigger issue. IBM PMR 85722,019,866 refers.
