  • 4. Rave BE, Deplhi 7 : Add multiple pages to report using code
Hi, I have a report, generated using code, using Delphi 7 and Rave. Whenever I try to add a second page to the TRaveReport.PageList, the app access violates. The second page object is instantiated (no nil pointer). I have added a watch to see if the pagelist in the TRaveReport is instantiated, and it's always nil. I have tried to assign a TPageList (create), but that doesn't work either. I have Rave Borland Edition (gotta love them budget cuts). TIA, Leon.

Hi Sio !

It's because Quick Report isn't the official Reporting tool in D7 (Rave
Report is).

I'll suggest that you eigther find the package or that you download the
3.5.1 standard version for Delphi 7 at:
 http://www.**--****.com/

Qreport components have been banished to the unloaded extras when you
do your Delphi 7 installation. The packets have to be manually loaded
into the IDE. To do this
1. Component | Install Packages
2. Click "Add" button
3. Choose c:\program files\borland\delphi7\bin\dclqrt70.bpl
4. Click ok
5. Repeat the above steps for package dcltqr70.bpl
The QReport components will now be accessible.

Quick Reports *is* installed onto your hard drive, but not into the
palette.

 Components > Install Packages
Click "Add", then navigate to {Delphi}\Bin
 Select the file "dclqrt70.bpl"

That adds QuickReport to the palette.

Thank for your response Mike. But this version of QR does not have TQRChart
class. Is this in another package?

Luis

Hi Luis,

See How to install TeeChart with new versions of QuickReport?

Also check the 3.51 standard edition from QUSoft
( http://www.**--****.com/ )

"Kurt Bilde" <kub@[adm].sdu.dk> wrote in message
news: XXXX@XXXXX.COM ...

If you are using TeeChart v4.04 Standard (version shipped with Delphi 7)
then you can download the packages here:

http://www.steema.com/download/TeeChart_v4/Tee4forQuickReport.htm

Steema Support Central is unavailable temporaly. So below you have the text
for the article mentioned above:

The install instructions included with TeeChart distribution are written for
Quick Report 3. If you're using Quick Report v4, the same rules apply, but
with two additional things: <br><br>

1) In QR v4 package names have changed. So, the Quick Report runtime package
has been changed from qrpt70.bpl to QR4RunD7.bpl. This means you have to
remove the reference to old Quick Report package and replace it with new
version. <br><br>

2) Set the TQRChart runtime and design time package rebuild option to
"Rebuild as needed". <br><br>

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to recompile/reinstall the
TQChart component packages (TeeChart v7, Quick Report v4.03, Delphi 7). The
same rules, but with different package names can be used for older TeeChart
versions:<br><br>

1) Go to the "Component->Install packages" and remove the DclTQR77.bpl
package from the list (the "Remove" button). <br><br>

2) Close Delphi 7. <br><br>

3 (Very important!!). Search all directories in "Delphi search path" list
and remove all old TQRChart component files. This is crucial if you want to
recompile TQRChart component successfully. Basically, locate and delete
teeqr77.dcp, DclTQR77.dcp, TeeQr.dcu, qrtee.dcu, qrteereg.dcu, TeeQR.res,
TeeQR77.bpl and DclTQR77.bpl files. Then, and only after you're 100% sure
you removed all old TQRChart files, proceed with the next steps. If you're
using different a TeeChart version, the same rules apply - remove all old
TQRChart component files *before* recompiling TQRChart component
packages.<br><br>

4) Open Delphi 7. <br><br>

5) Next, close all projects. Then go to the "File->Open project" menu and
pick the TeeQR77.dpk package. <br><br>

6) For <b>Quick Report 4</b>, you'll have to remove the reference to the old
<b>Quick Report v3</b> package and replace it with the new runtime package.
For Delphi 7, you should remove the qrpt70.dcp file (or similar, depending
which QR version you previously used) and replace it with the QR4RunD7.dcp
package. Also, set the package build option to "Rebuild as needed". <br><br>

7) Now click the "Compile" button. The package should compile correctly. If
you receive errors, see "TroubleShooting" below. <br><br>

8) Open the DclTQR77.dpk package ("File->Open project" menu). <br><br>

9) Now click the "Compile" button. The package should compile automatically.
If you receive errors, see "TroubleShooting" below. <br><br>

10) Copy the compiled packages (most probably they were compiled to
Delphi7ProjectsBPL directory, but the actual directory might depend on
platform settings): <br><br>

- TeeQR77.bpl to WindowsSystem (or WinNTSystem32) directory <br>
- DclTQR77.bpl to Delphi7Bin directory <br>
- TeeQR77.dcp to Delphi7Lib directory <br>
- DclTQR77.dcp to Delphi7Lib directory <br>
- QRTeeReg.dcu, QRTee.dcu

4.Quick Reports and Delphi 2006

Hi,

I have a bunch of reports on quickreports (D6), so eventually there's
the need to move to either D2005 or D2006. Since I'm not sure I need a
more complex (and expensive) reporting tool, I'd like to use the one
included with Delphi, but since Crystal was used in D2005 and now Rave
is apparently included in D2006 then I would be faced with the same dilemma.

Since I don't really have the need for complex reports I still have to
decide whether updating to QRep PRO (avoiding the migration to another
reporting tool), or give it a try to Rave or Crystal (which I used eons
ago).

Any comments are welcome.

5.Quick Reports for Delphi 2005 & Tee Chart

Does anyone know if it is possible to have the QRTeeChart component work
in Quick Reports 4.06 for Delphi 2005?

I have a huge investment in the combination of those two tools and would
like to move forward w/ minimal re-work.

Thanks in advance,
