I'm trying to prevent access to my remote users that I do not wish to have access to the company GAL and several address lists, I'm assume I have to do something with the security of them and possibly the default offline address list. If anyone has any suggestions please reply to this post. Thank you, Patrick

I have a Windows 2000 Enterprise server that is hosting several SMTP domains. The problem I'm having is that the main Domains user accounts (Same as the Windows 2000 Domain Name) can all login to OWA, but any of the other SMTP domains accoutscannot. They have user accounts on the main domain, but they only have email addresses for their SMTP domain. I get a "401 Unauthorized" message after trying to enter the password 3 times. I've been banging me head on this one too long and thought I'd try my other Brother's in Arm's on the net. Any help would be much appreciated.
  • 3. Able to send out externally; unable to receive in
We've setup an Exchange 2000 server; I know we must be missing something. We're able to send and receive email internally. We're able to send out externally. However, unable to receive incoming email. This is the error message that that is received back in the client email, unfortunally it doesn't say much: The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator. I've compared the setup with another Exchange server, but can't see any differences. The only difference is that this server is not a DNS server. Any ideas? If more information is needed, please let me know. Thanks.

 Please help. Thanks.

3.NNTP newsfeed not working with Public Folders/Internet Newsgroups

I'm trying to get a newsfeed working with Exchange 2003 SP2 and a Public
Folder accessed by Outlook 2003/2007. I don't have any special relationship
with this small volume news group that give anonymous access to everyone.
Instead of using Outlook Express and duplicating the data on every computer
in the office I would like to have the data stored in a Public Folder for all
to see.

So I setup the Peer feed with an inbound pull feed (and hopefully an
outbound feed too if that will work). Soon after I can see Exchange create
all 11 sub-folders for this newsgroup and by using the Network Monitor I see
a ton of traffic on port 119. The only problem is the folders remain empty! I
don't know where the data is going or if it's getting dumped. The ISA 2004
firewall is not reporting anything being blocked (I'm using SBS 2003
Premium). I also notice the traffic seems to be encrypted whereas when I use
Outlook Express on the server, messages arrive in clear test.

Also if I change the virtual directory from Public Folders/Internet
Newsgroups to a local file folder then the messages do get stored in the file
system as .nws files + a few control-type files. I just can't view these
using Outlook 2003.

I have tried this with Exchange 2000 in the past with the same results and
can't find a hint after searching the Internet for days. Hopefully someone
out there has done this and can tell me how to make it work. Thanks in
advance for your replies.

4.public folder newsgroups and owa

have this idea of creating some public folders and setting up a news
server. Is there away to give people access with out making them
mail/mailbox enabled? Its going to be for students in a school district
and I am not really keen on the idea of mail enabling students yet.

Also, is there a url that I can use to force the view to "By
Conversation topic"?
