  • 1. Cannot Block Outgoing Email
We have a single MS Exchange Server 2003. I have setup two SMTP virtual servers, one for port 25 and one for another port that for our outside MX service. Both are enabled for sender, recipient, and connection filtering. I began by taking a particular hotmail address and adding it to recipent filtering. After not successfully blocking the email address, I ultimately used *@hotmail.com. I still cannot block email addresses from being sent. What am I missing? Thanks in advance, Mark Napa, CA

What is the easiest way to monitor if someone is logging in to a mailbox via OWA. I don't have MOM. Thanks.
  • 3. After resetting router, I cannot receive e-mail from the outside.
I have a situation that requires some knowledge that I do not have. I had a router that I could not get into because the password was lost. I had some exchange server issues (SMTP) and went to look at the router, but could not get in. So ... I just restarted the router and my problem went away. But I felt that I should reset the router, at some point, so that I could get into the router in the future. I waited a couple of weeks for the dust to settle and proceeded to reset the router. Everything looked okay, but now I cannot receive outside e-mail. Do I need to open a port up in the firewall to receive e-mail? I know that this is not the case on workstations, but I don't recall this being an issue with Exchange Servers. The Exchange server (5.5 on Win2K) was not touched in anyway. I must then believe that it is the router setup, but I am not sure where. The router is a SonicWall TZ 170. Thanks!

  • 5. 5.5 Move Server Wizard Questions
Has anyone used this lately? I want to move a site that has a single server into our main site prior to migrating the main site to 2003 (I want to have a single admin group). The servers in both sites are running 5.5 SP4, both sites use a single shared active directory domain. The site I want to move has around 30 mailboxes, a directory replication connector to the main site, and a site connector to the main site. The documentation seems fairly self-explanatory except a couple of points: Recipient containers in the source site - how does the MSW handle these in the destination site? Outlook Profiles - all users are on Outlook 2000 or above. Some documentation says the profiles need to be totally recreated, some say simply re-validating the name in the profile settings, and running "outlook /resetoutlookbar" should be sufficient? IMF and Safe Senders

Hi
i am using IMF on Exchange 2003, the SCL is set to level 5, some users
report that they dont receive legitimate emails, i usually find the emails in
the archives folder created by IMF. is there a way to add a safe senders list
to Exchange or is there a way to assign a low SCL to a specific sender?!!

Archive at SCL 5 is a bit low in general.
You may want to have a look at the article on http://www.**--****.com/
on how to set the SCL using IMF Tune

IMF and Safe Senders

Postby TWlrZUM » Sun, 18 Feb 2007 22:17:08 GMT

Hi,

I am using Exchange 2003 SP2 and the IMF. Everything is fine except I have
one contact that IS listed in the safe senders list in Outlook but the IMF
still catches some email from this user.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to troubleshoot this? Or
am I wrong in thinking the Exchange server knows who is in my Safe Senders
list?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you are wrong, though it's a perfectly understandable mistake :-(

I have written a freebie tool that adds whitelisting to IMF, which may or
may not work for you.

Exchange Server 2007 has the safelist aggregation feature that makes this
possible, in addition to the ability to bypass specified senders/sending
domains at the server end (aka "whitelisting").

2.IMF and "Safe Senders List"

Is it true that if a user has a recipient in their safe sender list that it
will bypass the IMF? It will place this email in the inbox. We are only
using the "store junk email" of the IMF.

5.IMF safe senders list.

Hi,

I installed IMF on an Exchange 2003 server last week. I have several good
email messages that are being flagged as spam. I have tried changing the SCL
value but they are still blocked.

Is there a way to add these safe senders to a list on the server? I know
that I can add to the safe senders list in Outlook but this is not practical
to do on all desktops.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Neal...
