    I have noticed that my main exchange server in europe has connections open to each client on port 2104 (store.exe executable according to netstat -b). This includes clients in the US based on a different email server. Can anyone shed any light on why this would be? Many thanks

    Hi, We upgraded our EX2003 servers to SP2 last month and it looks like we may need to restore an old SP1 database in order to retrieve mail from a mailbox for somebody who is no longer with the company. Can the RSG handle this even though the SP revisions are different, or should I be taking another approach? Thanks for any advice

    I have managed to export my mailboxes from GW 5.5 to Exchange 2003. However, the contacts have not gone over. An email is generated with the calendar, tasks and contacts but there's nothing in the contacts? I've used the Exchange Migration Tool. Many thanks, Mike

Migration X500 address

Hello all

about a year ago i did an exchange migration and a domain migration. I had 
to create X500 addresses for all the migrated users to avoid breaking 
calendar scheduled appointments. I created the X500 address using the 
ADMODIFY tool. Everything whent well with the migration. I now want to know 
if i still need to keep the custom X500 addresses that i had to create for 
the migrated users? I would like to start cleaning things up before we start 
the transition to exchange 2007. If i can remove the x500 addresses can i use 
the ADMODIFY tool to do this?

If you remove them, it will break old replies and appt updates etc
that still reference the old org/site.
However, if you are willing to live with that and have your users
clear the cached entries when they encounter them, you can remove.

2.Weird post-migration problem (E5.5-E2K) with X500 addresses 

I'm not sure what might be causing this or why it only affects a
handful of users.  Here's the issue:

A few months ago, another admin did a migration from Exchange 5.5 to
Exchange 2000.  As part of the migration, the new Exchange box was
placed into the parent company's directory (users are still members of
their own NT domain).  There are duplicate user accounts in the new
directory so the users can connect to the Exchange server.

Some of the users are having an issue where they can connect to
Exchange using their Outlook client and see all folders and address
lists.  When they try to create a new message, the contact lookup
tries to pull information from the old server (the old server has been
turned off for two months).  I know this because the user will get a
dialog box that says "requesting data from OLDSERVER..." A simple
"Check Names" when composing the message will reproduce the problem. 
Names are being pulled from the new directory's global address list. 
Because the old server is off, though, the message fails.

I went into the new directory and removed the X500 address from a test
contact and tried sending again from the affected user and it worked
just fine, but obviously removing the X500 address prevents people
from replying to old messages.

My question is this:
Why does this issue only affect a handful of users and what is causing
those users to try to request data from the old server?  More to the
point, how can I fix it or where can I get more information about the
cause?

4.Resolved - Migration: ADMT and x500 Address 

What resolved the issue was that when I was running the 
exchange migration wizard and specifying the Service 
Account, I did not put the domain in front of the account 
in the format of "Domain\Account".  As soon as I did that 
it all went smooth.
