1.Migration: ADMT and x500 Address
Hello all,
I am currently testing a migration path from an WNT/E55 to
W2K/E2K environment. We are creating a new W2K
Forest/Domain and E2K Organization. Here is what I have
done so far...
1- I used the ADC to create contacts in AD from the E55
Dir. OK.
2- I then used the ADMT to migrate users in AD from the
WNT PDC. OK. sidHISTORY is present.
3- Used ADClean to merge the attributes of the contacts
with attributes of the users in AD. OK.
4- Running the Exchange Migration Wizard to move the
mailboxes over from the old E55 Org to the new E2K Org and
it is failing with the following error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeMig
Event Category: None
Event ID: 13002
Date: 12/27/2003

Description:
A mailbox could not be found in the target directory with
the
address 'x500:/o=TrangoSoft/ou=Exchange1/cn=Recipients/cn=J
eff'.
When I was doing my research I remember reading something
about the x500 address and what to do but I can't find the
literature. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance to all that reply.

2.Weird post-migration problem (E5.5-E2K) with X500 addresses
I'm not sure what might be causing this or why it only affects a
handful of users. Here's the issue:
A few months ago, another admin did a migration from Exchange 5.5 to
Exchange 2000. As part of the migration, the new Exchange box was
placed into the parent company's directory (users are still members of
their own NT domain). There are duplicate user accounts in the new
directory so the users can connect to the Exchange server.
Some of the users are having an issue where they can connect to
Exchange using their Outlook client and see all folders and address
lists. When they try to create a new message, the contact lookup
tries to pull information from the old server (the old server has been
turned off for two months). I know this because the user will get a
dialog box that says "requesting data from OLDSERVER..." A simple
"Check Names" when composing the message will reproduce the problem.
Names are being pulled from the new directory's global address list.
Because the old server is off, though, the message fails.
I went into the new directory and removed the X500 address from a test
contact and tried sending again from the affected user and it worked
just fine, but obviously removing the X500 address prevents people
from replying to old messages.
My question is this:
Why does this issue only affect a handful of users and what is causing
those users to try to request data from the old server? More to the
point, how can I fix it or where can I get more information about the
cause?
cc via e-mail would be appreciated.
TIA for any information you can provide.

4.Resolved - Migration: ADMT and x500 Address
What resolved the issue was that when I was running the
exchange migration wizard and specifying the Service
Account, I did not put the domain in front of the account
in the format of "Domain\Account". As soon as I did that
it all went smooth.
