  • 4. event id 9665
I have been receiving the subject ID (memory settings for this server are not optimal for Exchange) on a Windows 2003 Standard Server that hosts my Exchange Server 2003 AND is also my DC - with a total of 2GB of RAM. The above event refers to Microsoft KB article # 815372 - which, to say the least, is a bit confusing. My questions are this: 1. Should I be using the /3GB and the /USERVA=3030 switches in my boot.ini file? 2. The SystemPages subkey on this server (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Session\Manager\MemoryManagement) is 798720 - and I assume that is a system-calculated value. Should that be set to 0 or be left alone? Additional info: my Virtual Memory initial size is set at 1536MB and maximum size is at 3072MB. I have been experiecing some e-mail problems lately (about 25-30 users and mailboxes). After hearing complaints about not receiving e-mail that some users know had been sent to them - I rebooted this server over the weekend. After that, several users received e-mail that was several months old (some indicated they had never received it before while others indicated they had received it previously). If anyone can offer any suggestions here or provide the answers to my three questions - I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks XXXX@XXXXX.COM 3. Should I make the change to the HeapDeCommitFreeBlockThreshold registry value as described in this article?
  • 5. Exchange migration question
Hi, Just a quick question, I've recently installed a brand new Exchange 2003 server and migrated all my users to this new server from an Exchange 2000 server. I've replicated all my public folders to the new server, I promoted the new server to Master etc. Now my question to you experts, I'd like to shut down my old exchange server just to make sure that everything is running fine on my new server, but I've noticed that in the badmail directory on the old server that it still collects a lot of badmail. Did I miss something? Shouldn't the badmail be collecting in the badmail directory of the new server? Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Messages showing up in Outlook with a delay

Postby Fritz » Sun, 01 Nov 2009 02:33:28 GMT

Some of my users are complaining that their messages are showing up with a
delay in Outlook. For example, they'll go through the new emails and empty
the Inbox, then an hour later some messages with yesterday's date will show
up. When I look at the message tracking in ESM, it shows that the messages
were delivered to the mailboxes yesterday and the queues are empty. The
users are connected to the server using MAPI (Server Type: Microsoft
Exchange Server), not POP3 or IMAP. What's going on and why is this
happening?

Thanks! :)

are the users in cached mode? was there any hiccup in connectivity?

Both users are directly connected to exchange (not cached mode).

but message tracking shows that the emails were delivered to the mailboxes
right away? no delay? I would suspect some type of connectivity
issue...how many users affected? just a few? was there anything of note in
the event logs on the servers or on the desktop PCs?

The odd thing is that some newer messages made it through but older ones
didn't for a while.

1.message "delayed" in outbox and delayed "new message" icon

I have found several posts on this issue, but none that match my situation
exactly. We are running XP Professional SP 2 (with all the latest updates)
and Office 2000 Professional SP 3 (with all the latest updates) and Exchange
5.5

I have several users who are reporting their messages are delayed in their
outbox for about 10 - 15 secs, however the messages are not actually delayed,
the outbox icon just stays bold for 10 - 15 secs. If the user clicks the
outbox or any other folder, the outbox will go back to un-bold right away

Also, the "new message" system tray icon shows up when there is no new
message in the inbox. Clicking in and out of the inbox folder does not make
a new message show up. I think the icon is just showing up randomly. I
noticed on one machine that it appears after the new message has arrived.

I have ruled out anti-virus causing the issue, I completely removed Norton
from one machine and it made no difference. The XP firewall is disabled on
all our machines. And I don't think it's a network issue. I have a Windows
2000 Professional machine and an XP Pro machine on a hub, and the XP machine
has the problem and the 2000 machine does not. (both running Office 2000 and
all latest updates)

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

3.e-mail shows wrong date when using delay sending message

When the delay sending or schedule an e-mail is used it shows that it was
delivered on the date that it was written not on the acutual date that it was
sent. This is in Office 2003.

4.Outlook 2007 not showing calendar pop-ups

For some reason when I had to do a fresh install of outlook 2007 on my laptop
outlook 2007 will not show pop up reminders of any of my appointments or
reminders. I can't for the life of me find any reason why this is
happening...help before I miss something really important!!!!!!

5.Delayed messages are not delayed

When a customer sends a Delayed email, most of the time it works,
periodically it sends right away.

Outlook 2007 SP1 is not in cache mode.

Any idea why sometimes the delay works and sometimes it doesn't?
