Hi, We recently implemented EX2007 SP1, Global Address List shows fine under Outlook client, but from OWA, I get this: "There was an unknown error accessing the directory. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization." Something to do with AD perhaps? Thanks for your assistance.
  • 2. how many types of Exchange server
I want to know how many types of Exchange server we can create? From my knowledge 3types exchnage server 1) Direct live exchange server in house office. 2) For eg register 10user on domain (pop3 based) & create exchange server in house & configure it with pop3 user & password so all mails will be pulled to local server 3) Register one user like post master & create exchage server in house in that create 20user if this is write or wrong I do not please let me know. This type of senior I have seen that's why? If any body have some good document please post it or send a mail on XXXX@XXXXX.COM I am very fresh in Exchange so I would like to know basic of exchange & type of exchange server we can create Thanks in advance
  • 3. Verify my understanding please
With having a hotsite in another state for Exchange 2007 CCR 1. If different subnets, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise will not work. This would require Windows 2008, correct? Any document that specifically states this would be greatly appreciated (for "verified" documentation for administration) 2. In a CCR deployment, ONLY the mailbox role can be installed on both nodes? This would require a separate server running CA and HT, correct? Again, any documentation specifically saying that ONLY the MB role can be installed would be greatly appreciated. All I can find states that is replicates the mailboxes but doesn't specifically state that no other roles can be installed on either node. Any help with the documentation would be very greatly appreciated.
  • 4. RPC over https
Single server deployment of Exchange2k3 on a Win2k3 box. OWA via SSL works just fine internally and externally through ISA2004. Internally Outlook clients connect fine to exchange. However, when I run outlook /rpcdiag I see that outlook is talking to mail via https but the directory via tcp/ip. Needless to say, when the outlook client is remote it does not connect to the exchange server. I have a mixed domain with a newly deployed win2k3 server as a GC. I do have some win2k gc's as well. I am running out of things to do to figure out the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. David

Which tool to use to test network connectivity?

Postby katchme » Tue, 12 Aug 2003 21:34:26 GMT

HI,

I already used dcdiag.exe and netdiag.exe on 3 of my domain controllers
(w2k) to test for any issues before upgrading my exchange 5.5 to exchange
2000 as explained by microsoft. However, I still need to do this on my
Exchange 5.5 running Windows server 4, which is a DC as well. I just need to
know which tool can I use to test for network connectivity and others on my
Windows NT 4 server (domain controller)?

Can I install the tools from Windows 2000 CD into my Windows NT server 4
(would this crash my NT 4 server)? or is there another alternative?

thanks
