  • 3. Utility for Synching Contacts from more than one source?
I have Business Contact Manager installed (workstation Windows XP SP2 w/all patches, Office 2003 Pro w/all sp/patches, BCM v2 w/all patches - We are running Exchange 2003 SP2). BCM puts all the contact data in a seperate data source (it adds dated notes/activites and can organize contacts into organizations and keeps e-mail histories for subscribed addresses). Since it is in a different data source than my regular contacts, I cannot access the data via OWA or sync it with my WM5 phone. If I could find a utility/tool for synching the main data source (minus the activies database) it would be still quite useful because at least I'd have the main contact data when I'm on the road. Ideally the utility could sync in both directions between my regular contacts and my BCM contacts so that if I made a change while on the road it would sync back into my BCM contact info. I would need the utility to run at least once per day, not create duplicate entries, and work with Outlook 2003. The one I found Outlook Contact Pocket Sync - only works with older versions of Outlook. Could some please point me to a tool/app/utility that makes BCM functional for business users without having to buy a full CRM product. The lack of the BCM contact availability via OWA and WM5 makes it pretty much unusable for a business. Kind of makes the Business Contact part an oxymoron.
  • 4. 2000 - 2003 Upgrade Question
Everything I've read regarding the upgrade reqs state that the 2000 FE servers within the AG must be upgraded first. My question is, since the current environment only has a single AG, but the future design calls for three AG's, can I go ahead an create the three new AG groups now and then join the new 2003 servers to the appropriate AG? Then, once the 2003 servers are up and ready, just delete the current AG with the 2000 servers? Will this work? Does setup only look for 2000 FE servers within the AG, or does it look for any inside the organization?
  • 5. restore exchange from EDB files?
Is this possible? I had a server fail, and I don't have a recent backup (a week or two at best) but the volume with the EDB, LOG and STM files survived. Can I use these for a restore in any way? Thanks or any help or info! Mick

Can't create mailboxes in Exchange 2k3

Postby Eric Twing » Tue, 02 Jan 2007 02:21:16 GMT

I've installed a new Exchange server and have started setting up users with
accounts. In the mailstore i have 6 entries: 3 users,SystemMailbox, System
Attendant, and SMTP. It wont create any others.

Am i missing something? I bought Standard addition and 25 cals so i should
be able to add them. Am i missing something license related?

Hi Eric,

Assuming the users are mail-enabled in Active Directory, Exchange will
create the mailbox as soon as it receives some mail for the user.

ok i added 10 of my users to test this and sent a test email to them. 3 of
them didnt have email addresses assigned to them and 2 of them didnt make
mailboxes that had email addresses. Is there something im missing? I
manually made the email addresses for the 3 that didnt get them (SMTP and
x.400 like the others had) and sent test email and they didnt make mailboxes
either

Hi,

Don't add e-mail addresses manually. It sounds as if there is a problem with
the recipient update policy so you need to troubleshoot this.

1.Can't Create Virtual server on relay, Can't create certificat too

Hi.

I've some trouble on my Ex2K architecture.
I've 2 back-end server & 1 front-end (dmz) win2K/ex2K server (sp4/sp3)

Actually i can't create virtual server on the front-end, it says it can't find network path ??
I don't have that problme on the two other back-end server.
I always make administration operation with admin exchange GUI on the local computer (not remote because i know that there's some diffence)

My second problem is about certifcation creation on protocol.
The same way, i dont have any problem with my 2 back-end server. When i try to do the same on the front-end server, the button is grayed (ghosted) (exemple : properties of smtp vitual server --> access --> certificat --> can't click, it's ghosted)

I know that when using remote GUI to administrate Exchagne server, this button is ghosted, but not in local.

Any Ideas ?

2.AD for 2k3 not creating new mail boxes in Exchange 2k3

Well, here is my issue and what I have tried to resolve it. With no luck

I can create a new user in AD on my 2k3 standard server but it does not
create a new users mail box. I have made sure that the Exchange settings are
correct for the user. The Exchange 2k3 server is the GC. This is a new issue
that has just started for me. I have not had this Issue before. This only
recent change that I have done (several months ago) was move change the GC
(2k) to the exchange server (2k3) and remove from the old server. I have
also made the Exchange server the information master and all that fun stuff.
I could create new users/emails after that and up to about a week ago. I did
patch the server with the latest patches that have come out but that has not
helped.

Things I have tried (I have waited about 15min to 1 hour for each per
several recommendations on this site and MS).
1. Point the RUS to another DC and do a rebuild.
2. Point the RUS to another DC and do an update.
3. Point the RUS back to the Exchange server and do a rebuild.
4. Point the RUS back to the Exchange server and do an update.
5. Rebooted the Exchange serve and later rebooted the other DCs.
6. I have read troubleshooting DOCs from MS.
7. Read lots of posts on about this or similar issues on this site.
8. Manually created the SMTP and the X.400 under the users.
9. I can log the user into the domain with out any issues. When I go to
setup MS outlook (XP) I get an error saying that the users could not be found
in the address list.
10. User does not show up in the address list.
11. Uncheck and rechecked the "Automatically update e-mail address based on
recipient Policy".
12. Also I can not login to OWA using the new user accounts but old ones
work just fine.
13. The Exchange server has AD on it and is the GC. I have been creating the
users on that server.
14. I have not tried to create the users on the other DC since it does not
have the exchange add-on
15. I have gone through the Exchange tasks and changed them several
different ways. Each time I get a uccessful" from the wizard. I have also
done the changes with out the wizard after that I have done a rebuild on the
RUS and still the same issue

16. As far as I can tell they are part of the administrator group.
The Group "Exchange Domain Servers" has dministratorunder the "Members"
tab.
The Group "Exchange Enterprise Servers" has "Exchange Domain Servers" under
the "Members" tab.
The Group "Exchange Services Properties" has "Administrator" under the
"Members" tab.

When I send the user an email I get
" XXXX@XXXXX.COM on 1/26/2006 10:37 AM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent
to. Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out
the correct address.<"

The only Event ID that I get is 9562
Failed to read attribute msExchUserAccountControl from Active Directory for
/o=Domain /ou=First Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=aybay.

Any thing else I can try?

3.Creating an Exchange mailbox Win 2k3

Hi,

I've been having problems sending email because my local domain is the same
as the registered one. I followed Q319759 (How to configure exchange to
forward messages to a foreign messaging system that shares the same SMTP
domain name space).

The problem is when we send him an email, the email doesn't go to our ISP,
it goes directly to the local box. He needs access from outside the company
and we prefer not to have the outlook interface on the web.

So at this point I think the best solution is to delete his mailbox and have
him be the only one who uses a pop account as opposed to exchange server
account. Now my question is, in the event that I need to re-create the
exchange account (without having to recreate his windows 2003 account), how
can I create this? I couldn't figure out how to do it from the interface.
