  • 1. Turn of NDR Logging to App Log?
Does anyone know of a way to stop NDRs from writing to the Application Event Log on the Exchange server? Transport logging levels on the server are all set to 'None' (through System Manager), and the 'HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeTransport\Diagnostics' values are all set to '0' (through Registry editor). With these settings, we still get a note in the application log every time that one of our users sends a message which generates and NDR (usually bad typing on the user's part). It isn't really a problem, but it makes it harder to locate real problems on the server as these are recorded as errors. Thanks! Heather.
  • 2. moving mailbox to another server in a different domain
Hi Folks, I try moving a mailbox which resides on an exchange 2000 server in our parent domain to an exchange 2000 server in our child domain. I did not receive any errors during the move however the user is unable to access the mailbox. Any ideas?
  • 3. New mailbox issues
Hi, Ive got a problem thats driving me up the wall, ive searched the net and got no answers so hopefully you guys should be able to help as your the crem de la crem. When i create a new user in ADUC, i ask it to create the mailbox to associate it to the account. Unfortunatly it believes it has but yet it hasnt. It doesnt add the email addresses to the user from the recipient policy and the mailbox doesnt show up in ESM, (I waited 24 hours just encase it was the server being slow). If i give the user a email address, it can all of a sudden recieve emails and the mailbox appears. Ive also tryed to setup the X400 address so it would show up in the global address list but yet, it doesnt update the list. It was working 3 days ago when i generated 4 new user accounts but has for some reason suddenly stopped. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem or point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance Andy Cliffe

  • 5. reappearing ghost servers :(
hello, I once had NT4/Exch5.5 I upgrated to W2K/Exch2K and correctly removed (at least I think so) the old Exch5.5 server. a few years after, I upgraded to W2K3/Exch2K3 and correctly removed (at least I think so) the old Exch2K server and suddenly, a few weeks ago, when I created an new user+mailbox, both my old servers (Exch5.5 and Exch2K) reapeared in the drop list :( I check AD with ADSI Edit and found no mention of the old servers. I checked in AD in: - Configuration Container, CN=Configuration, CN=Sites, CN=Default-First-Site-Name, CN=Servers - Configuration Container, CN=Configuration, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=<myorg>, CN=Administrative Groups, CN=<mysite>, CN=Servers the Exch admin tool does not display the old servers in the srvers list. what did I missed ? TIA, Pierre.

Hi AIW

Unfortunately there is no way to tell which type of access it was.

1.Event ID: 1016 for Exchange 2000

My system is Windows 2000 sp4 with Exchange 2000 sp3 and I'm getting the following message in my application log: The data buffer created for the "EXOLEDB" service in the "C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\bin\exodbpc.dll" library is not aligned on an 8-byte boundary. This may cause problems for application that are trying to read the performance data buffer. Contact the manufacturer of this library or service to have this problem corrected or to get a newer version of this library. I have looked at KB article 226494 and it talks about getting a newer .dll. I also found KB828341 about event ID: 1016 but it was for a differant .dll (Esentprf.dll), but it talks about a hot fix that is available through Microsoft. Any help on this would be wonderful. Thanks John

2.Exchange 2000 Event ID 1016...

Hello,

I'm trying to help with a log managment solution and it looks like event
1016 in exchange 2000, is too generic for a log collecting/reporting
appliance to determine authorized vs. unauthorized access to inbox or
calendar activity. Are you aware of a configuration that will allow us to
pull data that we need out of 1016 and report on those logs without a high
number of false positives? Please help!
